CGW and C&NW merged on June 30, 1968. The newest power that had was a handful of SD40s, next newest was a small batch of GP30s.

    C&NW and CGW merged at 12:01AM July 1, 1968.
The only "second generation" CGW power was-
8 GP30s purchased in '63. First units to wear the new brighter red.
9 SD40s purchased in '66. Only 6 motor units on CGW.
It can be confirmed however, that CGW tested GP20s as well, but ened up ordering GP30s. They also tested a GP35, GP40, and SD45, but chose the SD40.

Yes, I'm gonna paint my GP40-2 in the red & black. I'm actually just looking for something to do, and I had this undec GP40-2 sitting around (well, actually it had IC decals and I was running it, but.........)

I've already blown half the weekend working voluntary overtime ( to pay for more "RR stuff"). I really need to make my lumber loads for my centerbeams just recently purchased - maybe after I put the eavestrough on the garage tomorrow. Yikes ! - forcast to be 31 celcius again - maybe retreat to the basement for the whole day.
