Loaded this KCS, IM flat car with a Norscot Scraper. Used PDC chains and binders and cut wood for blocks and wedges to hold the scraper in place. I am surprised how many binders are used to hold these loads in place. Thanks for stopping by.
Hi Tom, Superbly done! You certainly have a way of making these things look real! I guess we all have out places we shine!!! Thanks, Dale
That looks astonishingly real! One really has to look at small details to figure out it's a model. Everything from the chains and turnbuckles right down to the ballast looks real. Even the chalk marks on the tires... Great work.
Another thread bump. Made this load based on a car I saw years ago. It is a pain old Athearn 85' flat with A-Line weights and ends added for weight, made the bulkheads and supports from Polystyrene plastic. The X bracing on the sides were made using brass rod of very different sizes soldered together painted a burnt metal and installed to the car. The poles were made from wooden dowels I tapered, then used a hacksaw blade on edge, scrapped down the sides to give a little texture to the poles, then painted black and loaded. Most of the loads I have pictured on this thread, were actually made years ago, with some many years ago. There are cars in staging and storage that when I see them sometimes I have forgotten about them LOL.. C'mon folks I know you have more carloads to show off!

Nice car Tom, but you have done what I consider my pet peeve with the scenery gurus, utility poles are delivered smooth, so that linemen can climb them without their hooks popping out due to the rough finish on the poles. Rick Jesionowski
Thought I would bump this thread. Hopefully some more will post their loads. This is the second one of these cars I have built, the car and load are 3D prints. This car was milled underneath thick sheet lead was glued in place so the car is heavy enough to be ran MT. Thanks for looking
Not a very hard load, but it makes the gon look useful. I picked this load off of E-Bay, just placed it in the gondola. Rick Jesionowski
This is a great thread. I posted these several months ago on another thread, but will add here as well. Every time I clean off my workbench, I collect ths miscellaneous scraps and pieces into a jar. Been doing that for decades with idea I would "smush" it down w/ epoxy or super glue onto a board and fit in a gon. Paint it silver, rust, whatever and voila. Finally got around to it back in August or September.
