Hi, I am looking for the hollow core door group. I searched and found some links but they go to a page that looks unfinished. Can you guys point me in the right direction please? Thanks.
Takes a little more hunting but you may be able to find certain subjects through the index page... https://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php Then again...if you have specific questions...just post them here
Mike- The "groups" we had came via a software add-on. When we switched to XenForo, (we had no choice, the old software had some horrible security holes and we'd been hacked a couple of times), there was no available software which we could use to keep the groups active. The groups are stored away, safely. If some day someone happens to write a program we can use, they can be brought back to life. As yet, nothing has materialized.
Mike... Maybe everyone should just post any HCD questions right in this thread. Everytime there is a reply or post to this thread it jumps back to the top of the list After time...if there is enough interest here..admin MAY (keyword..MAY) move it to a 'Sticky'. Just a thought
I think an HCD thread would be helpful. I was specifically searching for that group as I am sure others do. I found a lot of links to the group and now I understand why they aren't accessible. Thanks for the comments. When I get my questions a little more focused I will post and try to learn from y'alls experience.
I have a 14 foot long by 3 foot wide HC door layout that when I built it the thread should be here somewhere. I may even have some pictures somewhere.
Since I live in an apartment, I only have room for a HCD layout, currently known as the Long Valley Branch.
I decided to take the easy way by buying three cabinet base units on sale. Works out just right to roll a chair up to and work. One cabinet base at each end and one in the middle support two HC doors. 000_1017-6 by John Moore posted Jul 28, 2019 at 9:51 PM One HC door is offset from the other in the middle where they meet. 000_1018-8 by John Moore posted Jul 28, 2019 at 9:51 PM Thin 2 foot by 6 feet Masonite sheets form the backdrop where I have glued scenic vistas onto. The three base units each have a drawer and a cabinet door for storage.
Well, George.... I would love to see a whole lot of chat on this topic, so went ahead and put it up as a Sticky.
The original THERR started as a single mainline 32x80 HCD sitting on my dresser in my bedroom. It soon grew to a double mainline setup. It also just had to have a tunnel. This picture is from early 2006-2007...i do believe... I still have that first trainset I bought and I still have that Tech2
Like everyone else I wanted more ! I wanted lots of track for trains to run around on. I had a 'master plan'. A friend had an old gutted travel trailer he was using for storage. I talked him into donating it to a worthy cause. The 'master plan' included the original HCD layout ( A) in the following trackplan. It aslo required 3 more full HCD's ( B,C,D ) and a half a door (E)
The house we where renting at the time had a garage converted to a den. A perfect place to build the layout while I waited for my friend to empty out the travel trailer storage. I guess you could say it was a 'modular' system as it had to all come apart and be moved into the trailer later. Here is the new track realignment off the original HCD and onto the first of the new HCD's.... OMG...the memories of that first foray into mobility for my layout !!!
Here it is...being set up in the 'den' while awaiting the travel trailer. I hadnt gotten the last half HCD yet so I used a piece of paneling to make a temporary turnaround just before where HCD ( E ) would go..
Talk about over engineering !!! All that 2x4 framework where 1x2 or 1x4 would have worked just fne...LMAO !!
Hi George, I had to chuckle when I saw the nice bench work that supports your hollow core doors. My Long Valley branch HCD is supported by Industrial Pipe Table Legs
