Looks like two arch competitors are engaged in some trash talk that could lead to a shoving match. [Montgomery AL, 11/1984] SOU GP-18 181 was a well-appreciated regular around Montgomery.

NS Safety Train 975 this evening at Blythewood, SC. I lost my light, but hung around anyway. I'd not seen this train or the 911 before.
About 20 minutes before, a warm golden evening light bathed the scene, but it faded away just before train time. Arrgh!
Wow! I can figure that the warm evening light would have made this train glow! Gives a new sense to the expression fire engine...
Went to Las Vegas this past week and did a little foaming en route during a snack/restroom break in Barstow, CA (Barstow Station McDonalds specifically) where the lead of the BNSF yard is right on the other side of the parking lot. B&O's F Tower at Fostoria, OH, taken 09/23/1997. B&O and C&O mainlines crossed here and even the NYC could once be found close by, along with the NKP a short distance away. F Tower closed March 30, 2015, but still stands I think.

Wonder if that old Pepsi machine is still standing too? Love the little details of ya'lls old photos!
More of the cool late 40s - early 60s architecture and, in Mike's posted aerial view, it doesn't really look abandoned, either. Doug
