Hi Duane, Mate, I would luv to see them!Anything will be most welcome! Especially a real "PROPERTY OF DRGW" tin sign!!!!!!! Haven't done anything to this project for awhile (space & time issues) plus trying to finish a Nn3 Ophir Loop layout + a dual gauge (N-Nn3) coffee table layout......... We have 2 frames completed, all the track & point mtrs sorted. All the wire we'll ever need. We have decided on a change of the basic design(L shape) to using the 2 frames we already have built (each is 3mtr L x 1700mtr W) as the centre marshalling yards & having these in the middle of a giant rectangular modualar layout.
Tennessee Pass info :thumbs_up:Jason, I lived at the Pass from '51 thru '60. Will have photos & footage this spring to share, but the videos mention do a great job. Another option is "google earth" it is todays info, but does give an accurate terrain display. Contact if helpful. Duane
Not sure what era you are gunning for but the 10th mountain trained at Camp Hale, Colorado in the 1940s and some "other" training was conducted in the 50s and 60s. Camp hale is just adjacent to the TP line. Camp Hale Home Page http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM4BF0 Camp Hale - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thanks Charger, but I'm going for the last years on the TP,which,at this time escapes me.......'98-'99?I just cant remember..... Planning on doing a run from Minturn to TP portals,Belden,Redcliffe are the main area's. Update on the frames,I have struck a deal with a workshop next to my work,he will weld up the remaining frames (aluminium ) & help us with the trailer, nice guy & very helpful. In return I'll place his company name etc on the side of the trailer plus do my bit on the weekends for him with lathe & milling work in return. Now just got to finalise a revised track plan with the other guys involved. It's time to get moving on this,as soon as I finish the Nn3,the coffee table dual gauge,12 BN SD40-2 repaints etc etc etc........
IIRC, the last train over TP was in Aug/Sep 97. Jason, If you're gonna do TP, ya just gotta do Mitchell!
Here are some inspirational pictures for you guys. Tunnel near Leadville, CO. Signals on the west side of the old Minturn yard. Switch on the west side of the old Minturn yard. Signals at Minturn, CO. Ben
Here's a Grande bridge off of old Highway 6 near Wolcott,CO. The US 24 bridge crosses over the track. This bridge sets just to the west of the US 24 bridge in the photo above. Another view of the west side of the old Minturn yard. Ben
Excellent pictures Ben! I snapped a few at Wolcott a few years ago on vacation. Love that area! -Mike

Here is a real sign that the UP just removed. It was not on the Tennessee Pass but was here in Grand Junction. Ben
I'm very surprised it wasn't painted-out like most of the Moffat signs were... NICE catch! Thanks for posting a short tour!
WoW Hey thats some great photo's there Ben,I love that vside view of US24 hwy bridge,I'm especially looking forward to building this bridge sometime soon. Also, thats an interesting shot of Minturn yard, dont get to see many shots of this end. Please keep posting if you have anymore.... p.s: pm to you Ben.
Jason, The good news is that I made it back to the Tennessee Pass area this weekend. The bad news is that I ran out of time to cover the majority of the pass. Here are some pictures that I took around the Minturn area. Ben
