As the layout had not been run for a while the track cleaning train was put in action. The Dapol car has a rotating pad which can be fitted with an abrasive disc or a coarse cloth material. The disc is DCC controlled, then pulled or pushed by a locomotive. The other car, under construction has two Cratex rollers.
Factory The metal fabrication factory construction was completed today and is ready for painting and detailing.
I will spray it tomorrow (grey), darker roof and loading bay roof. When installed on the layout I will add details to the loading dock etc. and weather it. Need more lorries for this building. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
Passing freights Two freights pass on the loops at the rear of the layout. MAV (Hungarian) M62 diesel on hoppers and SZ (Slovenian) 541 electric on containers
The M62 is a Russian built design. Well over 3,000 were produced and are about 2000 hp. Many are still in use across several countries, including Hungary as in my model. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
Seldom see them in two's, but can happen if necessary. There were actually a lot of them built as permanently couples pairs, with no cabs on the inner ends. Known as 2M62. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
As the layout had not been operated for a while, the first thing to run was the track cleaning car. This has a DCC controlled rotating head also a fluid reservoir to deposit track cleaner on the rail heads through a sponge pad. Does a great job!
Lots more photographs of the running session on my website: http://www.andersley.co.uk/NEWgallery3.html
Paul, trackage is a mix of Peco code 100 and code 75 (from previous layouts). The turnouts are hand operated using slider switches which also switch the current to the live frogs. I don't use dead frog types. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
