Just a quick post to kick things off. I had to drive into civilization to get phone reception and log in. Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2
Just for fun, two shots of the same scene, lit by a single 250W flood, and any outside light that filtered in, and with the fluoros turned off. For the first one I lowered the flood on its tripod so it was about baseboard level, and aimed it at the backscene's sky Then I raised it and I leaned it across the front of the layout so it shone straight down the tracks. Have a good weekend everyone. Mike
Nicely done indeed Mike ! Your work continues to exemplify the realism of our hobby ! You being from down under , I must ask how you keep everything from falling off ????? :teeth:
A few more shots from the shoot two weeks ago…Extra 8715 beginning the assault on Farron Hill's 2.2% western slope ...and a FM pusher set on the east slope of Farron Hill along pup creek. Have a great weekend! md
Mike, I prefer your first image. Its lighting is more subtle and diffused, representative of early morning or late evening. The lighting in the second image is more harsh, contrast too severe.
Well, we have Mike, who lives Down Under and Mark, that lives near the North Pole and both are two of the best modelers of Train Board. Always enjoy your photos, gentleman!
North Pole??? The North Pole is 2.5x farther away from here than Mexico! And we didn't get *any* snow this year to boot! It's 70 degrees F right now (not that we use that scale any more) and it has been for the last month and a half. md
Ha ha! I remember when I was just out of high school, my parents decided to drive up to Canada from out home in the Bay Area. Everyone told us before the trip, "You're going to Canada? You'd better take a lot of warm clothing, it'll be cold up there." The farthest north we went was a small town called Cache Creek where it was in the 90s! So much for the Great White North! lol
The harsh light of early morning ... should be that way , besides , who wants to get up and go to work ... unless you live in the one of the two best spots in the world , the Italian Alps or North Idaho !!!!! :teeth:
And the rock work is ... well , breathless ! A long shadow shot might be awesome like Mike did on his ... YOU GUYS ROCK !!!!
So that's why all the local guys wanted to work there. And here I though all they had was water treatment additives and drilling mud.
A couple shots from the Big Train Show in Ontario CA this last weekend. As you can see I did not take many photos.
