This may have been done before, and the N scale forum is doing it now with one called "favorite scenes from your layout". I model in N primarily but like to dabble in HO as well, more so as of late. These "random shots" seem to be my favorite threads to view. I love to look at all of your layouts and engines/rolling stock. Its gives me so many ideas to think about. So, if this has been done on the HO forum before this, please excuse this, but it gives you a chance to post some good pics again! The picture does NOT have to be from your home layout. Just any pic from any layout that you like. Lets make one rule, the picture HAS to have one of your engines that you own in the picture! I will start: Here is a picture of my Spectrum Southern 2-10-2 crossing a bridge by a small town on my club's HO scale layout. I just liked the way it looked rolling through there! The track below breaks off the main and heads back up the mountain to a lumber company. Thanks! Dean
The club layout has such a wide range of scenery I decided to do one from a few of them Zephyr arriving at Eagle River Station Colorado Silver Valley Western yard lead and I had to add this one
This rule is lococentric. It discriminates against modelers and photographers who prefer to focus on cabooses, observation cars and other types of rolling stock with no loos in the picture.
Nice, I've got a few to share as well, also from a club layout. This is the Naptown and White River: EDIT: Also, one of my favorite parts of model railroad is photogrpahy is trying to shoot realistic scenes with as little telltale of a model as possible. I want you to look at the picture and question if it is actually a model, and not be able to guess where I took the photo no matter how familiar with the layout you might be. So I too must voe "nay" on this loco loco rule. Two of my pictures don't even have TRACK in them.but they are shots I took of a layout
Ok, I am not totally opposed to removing the "loco rule"! What if we open it up to there HAS to be something of yours in the photo... a caboose, rolling stock, engine, whatever. Just a good shot in general of something of yours on a layout somewhere. Please explain what is yours in the pic so we will know and maybe even who's layout. I was just trying to make it personal.. so to speak. But have enough of the layout so we can see what's going on around the item you are photographing. This way we can also see scenery and design ideas! Sound better??
I don't have a layout but these are my engines on the club layout. Wish I could do scenery like that.
Here's a couple of random shots I took on my Zalma branch of the Frisco. The Castor River bridge. Engine trouble, hitch the team to that old buggy. Rear view of the Zalma depot. Notice the thirsty horse. T J Moss Lumber office and mill at Zalma.
Out of the cut, past the old farm and into Greenbrier. Summer 1915. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/...1-B3E0-3F6AAEE5A580-5204-0000040B693F38C4.mp4 I hope this link works.
A really good little video, Jim. I stayed for one more. That little loco runs very sweetly, and your scenery is spot-on. Mike
Thanks. I do love my little 4-4-0 kitbash. It was my first decoder install, a Tsunami Light Steam micro. Now I need to reassess and upgrade some of my scenery after seeing your work.
Jim, you are nothing short of GREAT!!! Just outstanding scenery detail and the trackside level photos are awesome. However, when looking at the photo of the rear of the Zalma depot ... I see that someone built another overpass in the background. BaaHaaHaa!!
Thanks, Sherrel. By the way, I'm using your scrap wood for my water tank project. Thanks for all that.
Beautiful layout, modelling, and camera work. But of it all, I have to ask about the Boat. Where'd you catch the American Queen?
