Hi Group, The Amhurst Train Show is Coming Up in the next Wkd or the One Later. Is There Any One Going Who Might Want to Take LOTS of Pictures or Better Still Find Out Who is Got What Products Coming Out - if Any?
I would love to go to this show one of these years... but... for now I too would like to see someone from our Trainboard group go to this show and take lots of photos. Several years ago there had been some new announcement made at Amherst Railway Society show in Springfield MA. The show is scheduled this year for January 25 & 26, 2014. Here's the website: http://www.railroadhobbyshow.com/ Usually stuff announced at this show is produced for the late spring to early summer delivery. We've had several years of lean announcements from these early shows so I'm hoping for some long awaited SURPRISES! I hope whomever does go will give us a great report.
We're (Rapido) headed to Springfield with a second N scale product announcement (Ya'd think the GMD-1 would be enough...nah !) Drop in and see us and meet "da Puddy" in person... that's me !
I'm sure my GF would love to go with me, as she loves my trains, and interest in it. Just a matter of $ Just got a big electric bill for the cold we just had. Joe D
I went when I was stationed in RI back in '08, what a show. It pretty much ruined every train show since, nothing has compared to it.
Looks pretty good for GF and I going. Saturday only. Do the best I can. She writes steno, so can take notes while I photo! Never been there before, or Timonium. Joe D
You do understand that the Timonium, Maryland show is the next weekend? If Mr. Wallet can weather the proverbial storm................... Must agree with you about GF's going. Mine goes with me to all the shows. Funny, there were two Timonium, Maryland shows where she felt a bit Blaaaahhhhhh, so she did not want to go. I skipped them, too. It just ain't the same if she is not with me. In fact, she is the one who asked to go to Springfield this year. She has a better time than I do, all the vendors are happier to see her than they are to see me. They even like her better when we go the brick and mortar location of [a certain East Coast Train Store that also sells on line and is known for good prices].....and I am the one who spends the most money there; they just like her better. Mine even has some trains. She likes nineteenth century and AMTRAK. Odd combination, but she enjoys it.
Philip, She sounds like a peach! No wonder they like her better than you! LOL Yes, having a great partner makes life so much happier. I just hope I can get to all N vendors at Amherst. Wonder what MFR's will be there? Joe D
I expect that Micro-Trains will be there. CEO Eric Smith usually makes the trip himself. Atlas, Rapido (as already noted), ESM (Bryan). And others...
Lists of exhibitors and table/building assignment maps can be downloaded here: http://www.railroadhobbyshow.com/pdf.php It's worthwhile to plan ahead by reviewing who will be there and who will be where to make sure you don't overlook anything, given the size of the show and that it's spread out over four buildings.
Ah yes... still longing for those good ole days before the undeclared Depression. Early 2008 was the last time I remember things being 'good'.
I'm envious.. I used to live in MA and my dad started taking me to that show every year when I was a kid. I don't remember exactly when we started going but we went almost every year through the '90s. I've been to no other show that even comes close. Just the sheer energy was intoxicating.
I was only there for one day and didn't have time to get through everything. I managaed a great deal on a brand new CC 2-10-2 for 120 bucks as well as some scenery material that I couldn't find anywhere else. Be sure to bring plenty of cash and a good camera. Picture and purchasing opportunities are numerous.
I'll be there in the BLC right across the isle from Exactrail. I'll have all of the mining equipment, new releases, and one's that I have not told anyone about either. Not even Puddy knows yet. Hey Puddy, I hope you get over to my neck of the woods and introduce yourself. Would be nice to put a face to the posts.
I'll keep an eye out for you. I already have my full roster of 5 of these, just like the prototype. Look for the "Shepaug RR" vendor booth. They usually have a great selection of N scale, hard to find items. Tucker's Hobbies is a good source too. Eric
