Not model railroad related, but relates to the DSP&P. And not EBay related. I've been looking around a bit, for the books on The Mineral Belt, volts 1, 2, 3. Found this at the Amazon Marketplace. Kid you not on the asking price!! Anyone have a bit of spare change laying around?? https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-lis...table=true&f_usedGood=true&f_usedLikeNew=true
I saw this and almost fell out of my chair... until I saw it has Lok-Sound installed. Even then it is still a little too pricey for me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/322281147383?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Who would want to buy it when "the speaker does not have enough ohms for what it is being given"? Wonder how many ohms the seller thinks it needs?
Not sure, but his cousin sells ohms by the pint container elsewhere on the bait. Buy plenty, pour some in whenever it sounds like you're low on ohms.
At the risk of being that "geeky guy", the speaker needs to be 8 ohms. The typical decoder is putting out 2 watts at 8 ohms. So if someone installs a 4 ohm speaker, the decoder will pump 4 watts to it. Since the amp is not rated at 4 watts, it will distort. Sent from my LG-V930 using Tapatalk
Are we discussing a "typical decoder" or an ESU Lok-sound decoder as mentioned in the auction description? If we confine our remarks to ESU decoders, then it depends upon whether or not it is a v4.0 decoder or an earlier version. While the earlier versions were specified for use with an 8Ω speaker, the v4.0 version is rated to drive a 4Ω load. Also, each decoder has a maximum output voltage and current capability, if you don't exceed either one, then you can connect a lower impedance load to it.

Maybe I need to rework my retirement plan to profit by welding my spare parts/junk inventory into whimsical creations.
Many years ago, someone had done a single truck passenger car in HO. It was quite whimsical and was actually reproduced by a kit company. Sold through Walthers(?). Cannot recall who it was or their model RR name, but it was a well known person.
Yes it was Walthers in HO. I have a grade school friend and his grandfather was a station agent for the Milwaukee Road. I got my friend two in Milwaukee Road colors, as I recall. I think there was a Pullman and an observation car.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-scale-Kat...971107?hash=item3607324d63:g:UsQAAOSwawpXsTX- man I am sitting on a gold mine if I could seel my engines for this. Seems a little steep to me
But neither of those had the cupola, so this eBay item must be worth more, right? If he had glued-on a steam dome, think what it would go for!
