Thanks. It is one 3" ABS pipe coupling with a .005" styrene roof, and I shot it with Rustoleum Aluminum, with a Clever Models texture printed on a 8.5" x 11" label
Tonight I was able to create another tank out of 2″ ABS pipe couplers, styrene, and Clever Models textures…needing some sort of bridge, I took a part of the Walthers ADM grain elevator for a fitting…..
Not necessary. That weld band is about 1/2 inch wide on the prototype and .0003" on a N scale model. When viewed from 320-480 feet away (that's 2-3 feet in N scale) the weld seem is not noticeable. Same is true with mortar lines in brick. Most N scale structures have bricks and mortar joints that are grossly over scale. Again from 320-48- feet away (2-3 feet in N scale) neither the bricks nor the mortar lines are noticeable. Instead buy some O scale brick paper then take it to a copy store and print off copies reducing the size down to 33 1/3%. Better yet get the O scale styrene brick sheets. You can then use acrylic paint to create different colors then wash the paint off. The O scale bricks are closer to scale size and reducing them down to 33 1/3 % of their original size makes very realistic N scale bricks.
Here is my thought so far. 4” couplings. These are just put in place to see how they would fit. They do make a black 4” one that actually is a little bit bigger in diameter and height.
I just received a Micro Trains box factory kit....I am going to take the front half and turn it into the office for Playa Desnuda Shell
I shot the walls of the office satin white and trim gloss tool red. All vintage color pictures of shell stations have this same, basic color schemes, and very little yellow.
I haven’t finished it yet, I test fit the roof tonight and I need to add the corner trim… I also need to load the dock with 55 gallon oil drums…
Playa Desnuda’s Shell Oil’s office is now complete, and next up is ground cover, fencing, and signage. I am hoping to find a Classic Metal Works Shell tank truck for a good price…
