Not much going on in Hattiesburg this morning. Plus the rain was moving in so I didn’t stay long. The Northbound Crescent was on time today... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
The SD9s were cut up in place some years back. In fact that work had started in 2010. I have some pictures of various parts of SD9s lying in the grass. The caboose is alive and well I THINK. Not sure if it's still captive. I thought that Oregon Coast got the GP9 painted as a cow, but I may be mistaken on that.
It's great to see the picture of Sierra RR #3, looking alive and well. I did a quick internet lookup after seeing the picture - the article said she went back in service in 2013(?) after a long downtime period that included making a new boiler. Now all we need is for some TV studio or maybe Netflix to reboot "Petticoat Junction".... George V.
While speaking of Sierra RR #3, this order was issued for their famous steam engine #3 to do work connected with filming a movie named "The Shadow Riders." It starred such notables as Tom Selleck, Sam Elliott, Ben Johnson, Geoffrey Lewis, Jeffrey Osterhage and Katharine Ross.
That 2-8-2 looks familiar. Tootle Valley RR in Utah had one like it. #11. It’s on dislocate at their local museum.
