    BNSF,
I agree that at least my trains are too clean. I just haven't been able to weather my custom locos. I do my factory painted ones and some freight cars. I will get around to it I'm sure.

Thanks BNSF, the 573 was a fun project and I'm slowly working on the cars for the directors train. I need to do alot of weathering on locos and cars but busy working on the layout. Dirtying up those beautiful MEC paint jobs almost seems like a sin but needs to be done. I live in Newington NH by the way.

Great work guys, my next project was the ex Rock U25B's, complete in Rock Island Bankruptcy blue with MEC stencil work. A little new for my era but I think I can do it. My era is 1978 nothing newer than Guilford so the cut off is 1983. Most of my Geep 7's will be in the decrepid as delivered scheme complete with orange step wells or simplified Bicentennial paint. The GP40-2's are just arriving in my era.

Newington eh? There used to be a great seafood place down the road from you in Portsmouth, Yokums, I heard their gone now. Dow you see any New Hampshire Northcoast RR action in your area?

BNSF, Bankrupcy blue got that to. Bought these two from a freind of mine about five years ago. They are the Atkas Kato jobs. Had to do a pilot conversion on the blue one so I had to repaint the sill and pilot. Need to weather them up , they should look pretty tired! Yokens is gone, they sold out acouple of years ago and the building torn down and property is now for sale.
As far as NHN action, now that the big dig in Boston is pretty well rapped up trains are smaller and don't neccasraly run five days a week. They sold four of the six GP-9's a year or so ago and bought two GP-38's. They repainted one green but the other is still blue. You can still catch them in Dover yard late afternoon and early mornings.

    MEC Fan,
We must have identical rosters as I have these two RI units as well. One of my favorite photos that I took as a kid was of the U25B 234 pulling out of the yard. I was sitting on top of the cab of the 470 steam loco that is on display in Waterville. A great place to catch trains by the way.

CG, I haven't been up to Waterville in quite a while. I took some photos of the dead line there in the late 90's pretty sad sight. A freind of mine and I might head up that way soon before I go back to work for the season. Would like to go up to NMJ to get photos of the roundhouse. What part of Maine do you live in.

    John,
I live in Waldoboro very close to the Rockland branch which is now under the Maine Eastern in MEC colors! Haven't been to NMJ for a while. I believe the turntable is gone now.

    John,
There are three Alcos in Rockland now. One M&E C424/5? and two former CN century(?) series with comfort cabs.
Great to see a geep headed our way!

Unfortunatly, modeling CR in the late 90's means I can't run any MEC. This is the closest I have:

I'm amazed how well you guys paint. Striping drives me crazy.

I remember Alan's shop in Boscawen. I'd stop there every time I was in the area. It was too bad (for modelers) when he moved to VT and even worse when he quit the business. He's a real nice guy! I've got about 6 custom painted units by him.
Nice jobs on the loco's guys.
    You're all an inspiration!

Dan, nice Guilford unit, I guess all the Geep-7/9's are in ST dress, could swear I saw some in MEC, looked through a bunch of photos on Ne-rail but didn't find any. Rich were any painted in MEC dress. Here's a D+H C-424 painted out. Got to try your method of adding I beam to the frame to hide those big gaps.

Rich, did you ever belong to the Concord Model Railroad club? We had a show in Concord every year in September. Yeah Alan is a super nice guy, he put up with a lil punk kid like me many a summer day.
I still have some of his NHN decals, I really should paint some up for old times sake. I was going to model them in N scale when I lived in NH.

Guys the Guilford stuff looks, uh, well [IMG] ok it looks good :D I'm just a little bitter that's all. Patch jobs are fun. On a semi related note, the B&M 1715 is all painted and decaled, just have some minor work and weathering left to do.

    Daniel: Nice ST unit.
John: love that C424. I have an undec waiting for its D&H paint.
BNSF: I too am bitter if you are talking about losing the original MEC paint schemes.
I doubt I could go the Guilford route. Too easy to paint. I'll stick with the green MEC units and all those *&$%^ stripes!!

    Hi Maine Central modeler.
WOW!!!!. Your modeling & photos are superb. I love the Maine Central & your modeling really captures the look & classiness of this once great railroad.
    Thanks
