I have 4 Lionel CW-80 Transformers and I’m getting tired of adjusting them for speed and direction every time I turn on the power. I only want the trains to go in one direction always and would like to set the speed once so that it just goes when I turn on the power. Is there something I could buy or maybe modify the CW-80s I already have?
That's an AC output transformer. Aren't you running three rail? The transformer doesn't control direction, the E unit does. The direction button just sends the E unit a signal. You can turn E units off. Just find out where the switch is, get the locomotive going slowly in the right direction, and flip the switch on the fly. If you're bound and determined to buy something, you can buy me a beer.
I have a switch to turn all the trains on at once, but then I have to move the lever up on each transformer then down and up again to get it to move. Then its in reverse and I have move the leaver on each one down to stop and then up again to go forward. I just want to turn on the switch and ALL the trains are running at the correct speed and forward direction. It it such a pain in the butt when people come over and I have to go through this process for each transformer. I don't mind so much to turn each train on one at a time, but I DON"T want to push the levers up and down multiple times for each one every time.
OK I was able to turn off reverse on 2 trains and they work exactly the way I want. But the switch is not working on the closest and easiest Loco which is why I never checked the other switches. When I turn the switch on it nothing works. I don't know which switch is for reverse and smoke, but I don't want the smoke so I had to play with both switches. I guess I can live with it except that the train that doesn't work is the longest train with 16 cars and I don't want it to start in reverse. Any suggestions?
SOLVED!!!! case closed. Finally got the switch to work and now I can hide the power supplies all together so I don't have to worry about the kids running them of the track and I don't have to constantly have to explain how to get them to move. Thanks
