I just saw that Bachmann has announced an N scale SC-44, which has me excited as a San Diego surfline modeler. That said, some other forums are questioning if this model will have the same lighting features as the HO model (alternating ditch lights, strobe light, marker lights, destination board, interior lights). Does anyone have any details or know where/when to find them?
I don't have any inside information, but I highly doubt it will have the lighting features. It's vary rare to even get flashing ditchlights in a factory model in N-Scale, in fact, as far as I know the only manufacturer that has them is Broadway Limited Imports.
Cool, I did not know that. None of the reviews I've seen mention it. I have been considering getting one and this makes it more likely that I will. Do you know if it's all of the DCC versions (sound and non-sound and rivet counter and operator)?
I’ll check when I get home, I’m on the road till Sunday. I think my Rapido unit has flashing lights as well, since both manufacturers use Loksound decoders that have the ability to program flashing ditchlights.
In N scale, it's not always the decoder's capability, or lack thereof, that is the deciding factor if a loco will have flashing ditchlights or not. To have them, you must have 2 additional LED's installed and wired-in separately. That's a tall order in an N scale, factory-equipped loco. Only loco I have that has all the LED's needed from the factory to do this is the Atlas 8-40CW. There may be others.
Both of my Scaletrains Rivet Counter GEVo's can flash, and my CN unit has ditchlights front and rear. Not sure about the Operator units. Same with my Rapido Dash 8-40CM, plus mine has rock lights as well. I think my Intermountain SD40-2 have separate lights, but those are boxed. And the BLI AC-6000's and SD40's also can flash. So quite a selection.
Anyway the question of quality for a B'mann Charger is real! And not only the lighting effects. How many of us were disappointed by the Acela some years ago?? Envoyé de mon SM-G970F en utilisant Tapatalk
I really want an SC-44, but being Bachmann, I won't pre-order one. I'll wait for it to come out and see what others have to say about it. But preferably someone else will announce one before that.
