Welcome back everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend, let's see what got accomplished.

Saturday: Both the wife and I were lazy due to not getting into bed until 1:00am. It wasn't because of the live stream I conducted but the Netflix show my wife has gotten me hooked on. After getting up way too late at 9:00am, I set about my day mainly working on track plan refinements and reading. At 7:00pm, I had another live stream with Ken Jr. at Trainworld and this time, after the live stream, I got ready for bed.

Sunday: A much more productive day, still sleeping in to 7:00am but not so late. Ang made me a homemade breakfast and I went upstairs and studied my new book from the B&M RR Historical society. With tools such as the book, my layout planning software and Google Earth, I was able to build a suitable replacement for the City Job based on 1970's Manchester NH. I ended up building and researching three areas out of Manchester that were either branch line or industrial switching. One such area that is holding the most interest is the Brown Ave Industrial complex which is built of the NH mainline and served five large customers. I'm still planning but it was fun using the tools to complete a realistic track plan. I also recovered the top of my work bench with new contact paper and generally picked up the shop. All in all, a nice relaxing weekend.

So how about you? What did you get done? Let us know. We'll do it again on Friday the 28th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

We got the Christmas decorations off the tree but did not get the tree boxed. Puppy training took up a great deal of our time. The joys of having a 10 week old puppy how I forgot them. We did get a few errands run.

On the layout I had a productive weekend. I got the roadbed down for 90% of the track. I even glued down a small section along with the track. I figured out what I am going to do with another corner of the layout. I began installing feeds with rail joiners that are wired. I ordered additional wire I need and a new DC power pack. The old Bachmann is starting to act up.

    Good mornin to Y'all,

Saturday was awesome - we spent the day together. Then went for a nice dinner. It was a great day.

Sunday: - I cleaned the layout room. Much needed. It has been a couple of years. So, stuff was all over the place.

Hope Y'all had a great weekend,
    Wolf

Saturday was a busy, didn’t get home until almost 3 pm.

Sunday was much better. I spent the afternoon putting legs on the two new modules. Then glued the foam board down.

Mon-Fri. I have a little more free time now since I am on call again 24/7. Haven’t done that since 2008. I will be able to get the two modules up and running quickly. I may even build two more frames If I get bored this week. But first things first. Remove the clamps, put 6” lead boards on the end plates and then attach the risers. While the glue dries here I will start cutting up lumber. By the time o am done I should have four of these curved modules. Am on a tight schedule. Two if not all four need to be operational by Feb 10.

Another weekend that flew by. Made it through all the non MRR stuff for the weekend with no issues. Was wiped out by Sunday afternoon but I did get a chance to change out the trucks on a half dozen cars to M/T's.

Hope you all have a great week!

    Good Monday morning all,

After finishing my quota of yard work I continued wiring the control panel to the Carlin layout section. No big issues came up and I got it almost all wired. Tested using bench power supply set at 5 volts but also got started building a 5 volt regulator that will be mounted under the section.

The panel is mounted on the front edge of the section. Got 11 out of 15 sets of LED's completed.

I had little to no time for modeling this weekend, but I did manage to paint a resin transformer casting and add it to the amazing Woodland Scenics'Built-Up N scale Substation. This substation will be serving the Kimberly Clark Plant in New Milford, on my layout. I still need to weather it a bit more and add cables for the 2nd transformer. as well as power in and then out to the plant. This configuration comes very close to the prototype arrangement at the actual plant in New Milford, CT.

Received my new decals. They look very nice. Now I just need some time to try one on a car or engine. Am following the bridge project on the layout of Allen H, for ideas. Decided I might need to purchase just one more switch for my T-Trak project. Finalized my module kit want list and am ready to order, next paycheck.

Once again, very impressive. This was chore weekend. Sunday, I visited the local train club. I am in the process of fine-tuning couplers. Not happy with current performance. I have decided to build a coupler height gauge (shoulda' done done it) to help with this. I hope to begin side and slope sheet making by week's end. (y) Be well and have fun. :D

    Happy Monday all.

Saturday I worked on getting the wing walls in. 4 sets, 2 at each end of each bridge at Jackson River. Turned out to be a tricky little effort, but I got them lined fairly well w/ the abutments.
Sunday the cardboard substrate went in. I got most of that done. Will spend an hour or 2 during week to finish them up so I can focus this weekend on starting the plaster cloth in there. Also yesterday, I painted the new Central Valley bridge that will reside in Albemarle City to a new industry. This bridge will but up to an elevated track. I am contemplating building that whole assembly at the work bench (when I get around to it) and then transferring it to the layout.

Bowling was not up to my standards on Friday, lack of lane dressing made it hard to keep the ball off the nose and left a lot of splits.

Saturday, spent the morning with the club and on to the hobby shop to pickup some Scalecoat Paint. Did not get much done the rest of the day.

Sunday, managed to paint a PC&F RBL and continued on with building an Intermountain PC&F R70-20 Reefer. Also did some minor work on some Intermodal Trailers.

Messed around with the Kato Unitrack on my N Scale layout, changing the location of my crossover because it was partially hidden behind bridges. This is the sort of thing that's often not apparent on a track plan until it gets built. I think the crossover looks cool, so I moved it into the open, but at the cost of a slightly steeper grade. Model railroading often involves concessions and this was worth the tradeoff.

Got some more scenery done on the western end of the layout. I had a hard time finding a structure kit to go on the naked corner. IMO DPM kits don't look good standing alone, and I wanted something that stood alone and didn't look like a downtown building. I already had a gas station and a fast food restaurant, so I didn't think either of those would work well in that location. I thought a small market or convenience type store might be a better match, but then I really could find any models that work for the late 60's look I'm trying to create. So I had my AHA moment and decided to create a building under construction. The site is cleared, and the foundation is poured. Next is to create a small construction office and add figures of workmen.

Still much more to do, but it's coming along. I wish I could get "cleaner" pictures, but they always come out a little blurry in the background (iPhone SE) and seem to show every loose grain of ballast or dirt in the foreground. There's no way to address the debt of field. My Canon SLR doesn't seem to be much better, as the standard lens is too out of focus in the background, and there's usually not enough light indoors for the telephoto.

Or perhaps I should keep four feet back until my modeling improves...
