Anyone figure out how to tighten up jointers? I have some that loose power.
Or would it be better just to replace.

You an extract the metal joiners from the plastic holder by sticking a thin-bladed screwdriver in at the ends and lifting them out. Once removed, you can slightly crush the joiner maybe. Just a thought.

I’ve extracted a bunch of these to make my own track feeders.

I'll give that a try. They don't seem to be as strong as Atlas jointers.

    Thanks

I just replaced a lot of mine, on some of the older ones the looked like they were brass. The new ones come in packs of 20, part #24-815, they list for $6.50. They also make a small tool that slips over the end of jointer and makes it easy to pull off ( I can't remember, they may come with one). Also all the new ones nickel silver just like all the newer track comes with. You can order them from your LHS or just about any online store, or you can order them from Kato's website, They are listed under UniTrack and accessories. Kato ships pretty fast and postal shipping is reasonal.
I like keeping extras on hand just in case I need to make some track repair. Hope this helps,
    Ralph

Yup...just replace them and save the headache. They are cheap enough to buy. I have about 30 in a plastic ziplock bag...just in case.

Where would such items be available? Wally's World doesn't carry such things.

Any hobby shop can order these for you or you can go to the Katousa.com website and order them yourself.

UniJoiners can be easily found. Any shop sticking UniTrack should have them. Bought some from Fifer Hobby a couple of months ago.

The online dealers don't carry everything, Katousa's prices are outrageous and it's a long way to go for the 'local' shops that don't carry much at all.
To explain further would be illegal on this board and where I live.
But at least sun shine has returned.

i my self order most things online these days , gas prices up so the cost of shipping is worth it for me.plus i dont have to leave the house , i can do other things while waiting for parts ect. i normally get stuff with in a week sometimes less. unless i order from (cough gagg ) china then its a few weeks (sometimes ). ive started replacing all my kato track with flex track as i too have been experiencing power losses here and there because of them joints ( i prob could just solder the darn things ) but i think ill just use flex and sell off the kato stuff or trade it ???????

As I build my Kato Unitrack layout, I'm adding extra feeders along the route, every two feet on average just to avoid potential trouble years from now. How I would love 30" sticks of Unitrack! I can see though that these wouldn't easily fit on existing store shelves and displays with Kato's other track products.

I'm concidering Kato for it's set-up and take-down capability. It's all modular. I to would prefer flex for it's versatility if I had a more permanent setting like my past houses. I also need to use mail order but hopefully not Amazon. With a suggestion from another I may have found a place to start when the money is more available.
For now it's just watch and try to learn, especially DCC, and enjoy the artistry and skills of many. Retired in '07 gives me the time.
