You can download and read the manual here if it helps. If you find you like to control lighting through your accessory menu you might want to consider a DCC relay decoder so you can control on/off on your illuminated sign on the factory you have. This is a really nice dual SPDT relay decoder that allows you to wire power through it and another system where they both may have different power requirements. I use one to turn on and off both my neon signs and train signal system which both have different power requirement and therefore need their own power circuits. Each relay can be programmed to run off the same or different accessory addresses. I'm all about remote control since my wireless throttle allows me to be far away from a fixed control panel when I may want to activate a turnout or other feature. Maybe not so much an issue for many but I also love gadgets so a win for me... not so much for the bank account
Yeah if I can Only power 3 lights on each output, might not be a good idea since I have 12 already. So with one Illuminate I can only power 9 lights? Might be a problem for now anyway. Cause they are rated 10 ma per light? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Know a little late.. Just found these 2 pics so wanted to share. Better illustrating how the Duponts are used. The station tower was built prior to design change that all structures are easily placed on or removed from, without need to access the underneath of the layout. Would have built and wired a little different if that was the rule. This approach easily allows using the same structures on another layout.
Absolutely! And with smooth running track, locos and trains, plus a few strategically placed mini network cameras, would like to run layout from different room, or put Pi on network, VPN in from anywhere on planet and run the trains.... Something down the road to experiment....
Alright @Moose2013 said he wanted pictures of the Tichy Train Group signs on my layout, or it didn't happen The close I get with my iPhone 13 the worst they look. But you can't really see the signs with a close up! I have a bunch more too, speed limits, bus stop, one way, merge left and right, etc... And I need to paint the Stop sign poles silver or grey! Might also have to put them in further too, not sure. I'll look next time at a store! I especially like the Handicap Parking signs! I have more of them. This is a test and only a test. Please remain calm Once again at normal distance it looks WAY better! Hade them for month's glad I am testing them finally. And really like them a lot. I'll have to order some of those Yellow ones too one day. Normal distance viewing, way better! Can hardly see the Handicap, but that's kind of the point! Can we say Dust
The problem I have with signs with poles...breakage...if you vacuum or dust your layout. I had to resort to using MIG welding wire to replace all the poles. .
hummm mig welding wire... ya know i never even thought about using that. ive got lots of that. Thanks for posting that lil tid bit.
Well as you can tell, I don't vacuum often, so shouldn't be a problem I'll probably remove mine when I do, we will have to see. I don't glue anything down so hopefully it won't be a problem, but who knows! Also I think they are like $4.00-$5.00 a sprue but you can buy a $20.00 set which is what I did on most sign's and got 96. The Stop sign's were separate and I got some barrels too for $4.00 each I think. Not sure if I am allowed to give the link, so just Google Tichy Train Group I might get these next, but no way I need that many signs. We will see.
S&S hobby street signs are the best looking IMO. Etched sign plates that come with decals and pre-cut wire posts. I think they (S&S) are no more but occasionally they come up on ebay. I snagged a bunch not too long ago for my upcoming layout.
Working on diorama scenery, at this point mainly roads, parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, etc... Time to try some lane stripes. This should be interesting. Hey at least if I screw up I can repaint it and try again, I hope? I really like the .50 cent Wally World paint! Might have needed a lighter color grey for parking lot, etc..., but it's what I have for now. Also, reason for diorama is to learn
Time for a repaving of the street, which for me means paint again Going looking for some NEW Ultra Fine paint markers in White & Yellow! Plus the ones I am using are bigger tips and about 6 month's old, about to run out in those colors. Practice makes... something Hey at least I have lines now! I'm saying the crew was drunk, that's my excuse And no, I was drinking coffee, maybe that's it, NOT! Wow, once gain the camera picks up stuff I can't even see with my eyes
I bought these over a year ago to mark my roads and parking lots... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087CDP6QY?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_99TEYKGXKYBMNWMEMBV4 They are still going great today.... .
Yeah I bought the same type point just a different brand on there. Turns out a few are running out of paint like the Yellow, White, and maybe Black. I have used them on 3D printed items many times. I also touched up the Yellow road lines with the Black paint pen, and looks why better. Not perfect, but even real roads aren't always perfect. Let's just say I can live with it, looks fine now to me!
Looks better! Not a lot, but enough! Got rid of the big blobs of Yellow paint with Black paint pen! Still learning of course. Me thinks I have a hedge blocking my gas station drive way, oops
A portion of my cars are EV, since as far as I know none have motors in them, or batteries either Called pretending or imagination Of course the F-350 F-SERIES Super Duty--SUPER CREW CAB, SRW pickup truck, and the service vehicle and fuel truck are not. If I only had a Delorean, ( Back to the Future) the hedge would not be an issue If I remember, plan on putting in a charging station somewhere? Will look just like a gas pump since I have extra, and probably paint it Green Back to work on the diorama for practice!
i2t, Looking good! In case you or others have not seen a charging station I took pictures of a Tesla Charging Station they built in the parking lot of a very popular BBQ restaurant. Amazing, you can eat while you charge. I failed to take a picture of the electrical cabinets sitting to the left of these images. PS: don't paint them green. In my 33 years @ Chevron delivering fuels like Mo-gas, D/F, Av-gas, turbine fuels, green was & is still used to indicate diesel! Not nit-picking just offering my experience.
Thanks, I have a picture on here somewhere when we were talking about EV charging stations, and it shows the big panel things too, it is in a shopping center with Best Buy, other stores, and eating places. Also, DO NOT think they say Tesla? Kind of makes sense but does it LOCK somehow, so others can't charge their cars while you are eating or shopping? Also, they just opened a Tesla car lot around the corner from me. I have to go by there soon! Roger on the Green pump color, I forgot about diesel These are the pumps I tried to paint the Black handle, didn't work. I also have some brand NEW ones, me thinks! Me thinks I figured it out, since I own the gas station, you know my layout or diorama, is going to have an EV station also since it is independently by me The oil companies might take me to pretend court about it But I'll WIN the case, cause it is pretend Alright imagination getting carried away now Just maybe I can paint the bottom part RED, I'll see!
Guess I should make another thread with just the diorama, but I'm lazy, maybe though. Time to look for a place for an EV charging station, now where can I put that? Don't have any eating places on the diorama, yet Maybe off the road next to the tracks? My gas prices are too LOW
