How about some before and after photos of your work/weathering/detailing. 78C1570C-C0DB-4CA1-A71E-6B555BCD6B30.jpeg D89E2C67-9D4C-4742-A0C0-B5F1B72D02FF.jpeg

    It's not quite a 1:1 shot-for-shot recreation, but before:

To pull my Texas & New Orleans Sunbeam, I bashed a P-14 Pacific out of a Con Cor Hudson. I kept going back to it and adding more details.

So the Yellow locomotive turned into a Southern Pacific? That's what I call weathering :) Very nice!

Thanks! Turns out under that shiny factory yellow paint was a rustbucket just waiting to get out...

So did you convert the Yellow shell, or a completely new one and then weathered. Either way impressive, great work!

I stripped off the original paint and repainted the shell in SP colors. Bachmann hasn't made these locos in a while, and factory SP-painted ones are rarer than hens' teeth nowadays. Plus, I can paint a smoother coat than Bachmann :p

What did you encounter, when cutting down the fuel tank and frame? Any major difficulties?

No difficulties. I used a Dremel with cutoff wheel. Slow and steady. I cut just below the contact strip.

    Thanks,
    Wolf

Here’s a DD35 that got some upgrading. Changed plastic oversized handrails to metal railings, BLMA fans, weathering, and modified the trucks to have different bearings like a lot of the photos I’ve seen of these.
