So I was eyeballing some power poles at the local hobby shop, and thought they would be super easy to just make... so I went to the dollar store and got: Materials: Wooden dowels ($2) Box of wood matches ($0.25) Super glue ($1) Brown acrylic paint ($1) Tools: Knife or saw to notch the ends 1. Cut dowels into 4" pieces 2. Notch ends 3. Cut off match heads 4. Make a wash of 50/50 water and paint doesn't have to be exact, and let dowels and matches soak 5. Super glue match sticks into end notches, press on flat surface so they are aligned That's it! Eventually I'll use some thread or possibly thin wire for the power lines. Here's a little video to show the process: https://youtube.com/shorts/Hs90tNweTR8 And the end result:
A few months ago in another hobby link there was discussion and a link to a thread for rigging sail boats. It was like regular thread in different colors. Electric wire probably won't hang as free and limp. The listing was on AMAZON. It probably could be used for cables on cranes, etc..
