I like wood BOXCARS and I cannot lie,
    You railroad brothers can’t deny,
When an itty bitty car, that is made of slats and boards,
    Gives you weatherable real estate,
    You get SPRUNG!!
    Want my weathering STUFF,
    ‘Cuz that box was TUFF!!

    So, FELLAHS!! (Yeah?)
    FELLAS!!! (Yeah??)
Wanna age a wood boxcar? (H*** YEAH!!!)
Then fade it! (Fade it!!) Chalk it! (Chalk it!)
Get that grungy car, back on the track!

My brush and chalkstick don’t want yours if you ain’t got BOARDS!!!

Alright, laying my hip-hop career aspirations aside for a moment,

I’ve concluded that wood boxcars are, by far, my favorite type of rolling stock to weather. Remove trucks, clear flat layer, fading/grime layer, (clear flat layer - optional), letter fade/run layer, clear flat layer, wether the trucks and done.

Metal box cars throw in the added challenge of significant rust areas, and I don’t have that down yet.

Gondolas and hoppers live hard lives, and modeling the beat-up, heavy rusted look is beyond my ability to regularly get right. Hoppers without loads have the additional challenge of a heavily rusted interior, and I’m about 50:50 between getting it reasonable or total garbage.
