Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend from sunny, well not yet, Denver Colorado. I hope you all had a great week and are ready to start planning for the weekend. Let's see what everyone has planned for this weekend. Saturday: I'll be running the Athearn booth at the Rocky Mountain Train show this weekend so if there are any Trainboard members in the area planning on going, please stop by and say hi. I'll be there from 9:00 to 5:00 Saturday. Sunday: Second day of the show, 9:00 to 4:00 then it's tear down the booth, pack up product and back to the hotel room to get some rest before my early morning departure to California. So how about you? What do you have planned? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday, April 3rd to see how we have all done. Until then, have a great weekend, stay healthy, be safe and as always... High Greens!
Good mornin to Y'all @Jim Wiggin - Enjoy the show!! Another week in the books (Well - almost) So, we are supposed to have an absolutely beautiful weekend ahead of us, here in sunny So. Cal. That means not much if any MRRing for me. I have a bunch of household chores to do. Lawn care and I need to get back to our deck. I need to paint the railing and put another coat of Saf-T-Deck down. We'll see how much of this I can get done. Y'all have a spectacular weekend, - Stay Safe Wolf
I took this week off from work and have mostly been relaxing with my family or weathering rolling stock. It is already Friday night here, so I’m going to finish weathering 3x Athearn Railgon gondolas, a MTL 2-bay ex-MKT covered hopper, patched for HLMX, and then finally finish weathering the 3 remaining C&D woodchip gondolas. The latter just need powder and reflective stripes applied. That will close out all my unfinished projects before the upcoming move and I’ll try and stay more focused and work on one thing at a time until it’s all packed up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I could write you a list of things that got done this week before the weekend even started. Monday, I met a contractor to get an estimate to re-insulate the crawlspace under the Sebring Model Railroad Club. While there I unsuccessfully attempted to unclog the toilet. Tuesday, I successfully snaked the toilet and did some work to support the places in our new benchwork that "flexed." Then I had to leave for a meeting and other club members continued. Wednesday, I met another contractor and finished fixing the flex. Thursday I met *another* contractor and filled all the recessed screw holes in the water part of the new port facility, and wrote up my treasurers report for Sunday's club meeting while I waited. My plans for this weekend look like this: Friday, today, is a funeral at church, then homework and work on taxes the rest of the day. Saturday will be more homework and taxes (if I don't finish on Friday), and possibly attend a "living wake" with my wife for a friend with terminal cancer. Sunday is Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy week, then our monthly business meeting at the Sebring Model Railroad Club, and probably more homework (since this week has been so busy that I didn't get started on Wednesday and Thursday like I usually do).
Good morning from cloudy, cool and rainy Northeast Ohio! Tonight I get to pickup my winnings from this years bowling season, then I will be going to one of Jerry Jordak's op sessions so I can pickup my raft of Rapido 35' and 40' trailers for TOFCEE services. Over the weekend will be working on the Ohio State Open Bowling Tournament, but since I sent my wife to Pasadena for our daughter's 40th birthday I may get some modeling work done after I get my group of Tangent kits tonight. This weekend I have some new outdoor lighting to install. After years of frustration with solar powered lights we are going back to wired ones. We have Easter decorations to finish putting out. We need to get Easter candy to fill the baskets. We need to make that every other monthly trip to the wholesale warehouse club, along with the pharmacy, grocery store, and produce store. A trip to Delaware for gas may be done. I want to continue working on the walls for the Morgan House kits. I need to glue down and paint the base for the Union Station. I have some cars to tune up and perhaps I may work on a DCC installation. I would like to run some trains while I am at it too.
Train show! Chores! Weathering! Unclog the toilet! Winnings! Easter candy! I am on here early due to commitments later today. I am continuing to make parts for three locomotives. Have a fine weekend.
I am hoping to finish up another HOn30 caboose. This will be a twin to one I did last year. Just received a box of buttons and tacks for my boat racing memorabilia collection, so will be filing those. Not sure what else might be attempted. Guess I will know when Monday comes along?
Happy Friday!!!!!!! So far the wife has not mentioned any plans so that's a good sign I may get some time in the train room. Have a scene on the layout that I need to add some chain link fence to so going to try and get that done. Then its back to some freight car loads. Have an idea for on so we'll see if I can make it work. Hope you all have a great weekend!
Good Friday morning, This weekend I'll be continuing detail work on the Tokyo module set getting it ready for the upcoming exhibit. This has been going on all week between getting our taxes done and grocery shopping excursions. We are STILL having lots of rain but if the weather cooperates there will be some yard chores to do. Wishing you all an enjoyable weekend whatever you end up doing.
Greetings all. I'm late to the party today. Had a big dang report due out and I just sent it. So now starting to focus on railroading. The good news I can get started as soon as I log off of here. Not sure what I'll do this weekend. Probably try to do some of the painting I got "diverted" from last weekend. Painting outside won't happen as we are due for rain here in central NC over the weekend. (Again). Have a great weekend all!
Going to the hobby shop for some under the table switches tomorrow - I didn't realize this was a thing and the giant switch machines on top of the table look horrible so I plan on swapping the mains out with those, and just removing the ones from the yard for manual switching. I finished weathering this THB boxcar today: Started on some clouds this week and I want to get the wispy far away clouds done tomorrow. I plan to fade them up, then add some other clouds, smaller coming from the bottom and getting bigger as they work their way up: Sunday, who knows. Maybe some trees, maybe some edging on the table, I'm undecided!
By the end of this weekend I should have all the track glued in place on my branchline. I think I will add a small cement industry which has an interesting dome. See image in photo. I may even begin wiring.
So I inverted the cement plant image and it fits the space better. So back to the workbench to build another turnout.
The track is down and time to wire it up. Ugh! I couldn't resist adding some cars for a better look, even though the cars are not accurate. The paint can represents the dome at the cement company.
