A note on Kmart, As of February 2023, only 3 locations remained in the US: in Miami, Florida, Westwood, New Jersey, and Bridgehampton, New York. https://www.usatoday.com/story/mone...-store-closings-2022-final-stores/7274962001/
Kmart is still here in Australia .. and alive and well ........ there is 7 within 40 minutes drive of me. The majority of the products have "Anko" trademarks on them. Target is the one closing here ..... they change from being "regular" Target stores to being "Country" Target stores....... you know they are on borrowed time when they make that change. At Kippa-Ring (suburb not far from here) there was a "Country" Target and a Kmart ...... Target is gone and Kmart is still there ..... and busy ! The more expensive Australian chains are in financial rough waters compared to Kmart. Maybe our airports International arrivals gates should say "Welcome to the 1980's" ........ all things considered that may not be so bad.
Oh wow, that B&M hopper is quite a find! Rare road name and size as well. I can't remember when I last saw a two-bay hopper.

The furthest west I've ever railfanned, 03/21/1997 at Needles, CA. The station once housed the El Garces Harvey House. I think the station has since been partially renovated and is now an Amtrak stop.
@BuddyBurton , that's some cool power for a shortline, considering 30+ years ago, it was passenger train power!
Rumor spreadin' 'round In that Texas town About that shack outside La Grange And you know what I'm talkin' about
The massive prototype of the Douglas XB-19 with a steam powered reefer train in the background. 1942.
The itty bitty ice hatches on the roofs, of course. The light colored cars with the dark door hardware are typical of ice reefers. Really just a guess based on observation of other reefer trains.
