Found some decals to do a couple of Ohio Southern road units of the late Jim Hediger fame Can or does anyone know if the orange he used was close to DT&I orange or a close orange
Not sure, but I think they were one and the same as the OS was supposed to be a subsidiary of the DT&I.
Same as DT&I Orange, best ones to use are Floquil Daylight Red or a 50/50 mixture of Scalecoat ATSF Red and Reefer Orange. Rick Jesionowski
Nope Daylight Red, is a very reddish orange which matches DT&I very closely, same with the mixture I noted for Scalecoat. If you look at Athearn locos, they are too orange, Atlas engines are the reddish orange of the prototype. Or course the orange wars on the DTI groups.io forum were legendary with no consensus. No primer, I quit using primer when I went to almost 99% Scalecoat, but the body of the car was light gray plastic. I tried Tru-Color and still have the bottle as I good not get it to spray properly. I also abhor their use of plastic bottles as the solvent tends to evaporate thru the plastic of the bottle giving lots of problems, which I am sure was the cause of the first statement. I thin tru color 50/50 and then adjust the acetone thinner as needed I buy and use acetone as it's cheaper and can get it in the bigger cans Tru color really isn't ready to spray from the bottle a lot of thinning sometimes Light Grey primer then thanks
