Hi all! I'm a little stumped... perhaps I need to read/buy more reference books. What type of coal car/hopper would be appropriate for Canadian Pacific (circa 1959ish) Any input would be appreciated! Tony

Probably 40' 70-ton 3-bay offset-side hoppers, built by NSC, delivered 1956, series 357450-357999. Acceptable HO scale models are produced by Stewart/Bowser. http://freight.railfan.ca/cprail.html#hopper and http://www.nakina.net/cp3.html
If the coal is "company coal" for the last of the steamers (and stationary boilers) then I would say almost anything goes... In interchange though, you would probably find the more "modern" stuff as noted above. Andrew
