Yes it's Friday again, what do we have in store for this weekend? Being the so called last weekend of the summer and a holiday here in the states & Canada, I don't expect much out of the staters & northerners but you worldlies can keep up the pace. I'm at a standstill in the modeling world so I'm not making any firm plans, I will go with the flow Don't forget to run trains, they need it! - Everyone have a great weekend! - I appologize to the northerners I didn't realize it was a holiday for you, too. Well for me this weekend is the first day of spring and we celebrate Fathers day. As I'm working tomorrow (Saturday) I wont get much time for modelling. Sunday we are going on a picnic if the weather is fine. I did place an order today for my next modelling project, see this link for further information Detailing and painting a UP SD40 to a MOPAC Project Have a great weekend everybody
I am not sure what modeling plans I have for this weekend. I was hoping that my orders for details parts would have arrived by now, but alas they have not. I do have a few detail parts I can paint and add to the Water Tower and Passenger Station Dioramas. Of course my plans are dependent on what other things we decide to do. We were thinking about a day trip to Wildwood, NJ but it maybe too cool for ocean swimming and there is some concerns about rip currents with Frances coming. Maybe we’ll take a trip out to Knoebels Amusement Park.
My plans are to start some benchwork. My layout room is not quite finished but I'm gonna start getting the rough framework put together so I can move it in and screw it to the wall as soon as the walls are finished. I actually did a "quick and dirty" modeling project last night after the game I was watching on TV went south quick. This is a panel track car that may be quasi-ConCorian as I don't have specific photos of a BN car, but BN did roster these and other railroads used them to haul track panels around so I'm using a little modeler's license. Nevertheless, this was a very quick project converting the new Atlas N pulpwood car. I simply chopped up some C55 flex, painted it rust color, blackened the ties a bit, and voilah! Still needs some weathering, and finishing touches but I think it turned out OK.
Going on a quest for Sculptamold. Texas Art Supply supposedly has it so I will brave the wilds of the Baybrook shopping mall, just west of the malstrom of I-45 and Bay Area Blvd. to see if it's true.
I'm hosting my first run all weekend. I got 20 people coming to run trains for 3 days. I got the food, RR, Water/sodas, and over 1000 feet of mainline..
Will be finishing up the large steam donkey project for the logging operations. Started weathering the wood last night and adding detail and clutter. A metal roof is next and then weathering that. Then its starting up the next projects on the list, building some fire and water cars, and some more logging flats. My MicroAce 0-6-6-0 still sets in the box awaiting its new tender conversion. Have a Kato caboose to provide the underframe and electrical pickup for the new tender which will be a slopeback. Another logging loco. And my Mountain awaits its new Model Power Vandy tender as part of its conversion to a GN P-2 class. Of course all this is in N scale. And I will continue to update the projects progress in the sub album for you folks following along.
Uh oh! My daughter came home for the weekend. Looks like trains will take a back seat. I just hope I can get her to talk to me!
