Has anyone ever modeled a baseball field w/ stands, etc in HO? What would be the scale size, etc. If anyone has any pics please post.

Jamison, I have never made one myself but I have seen one at a show I was at today. It was a small town stadium but it was very nicely done. Only thing is that it ate up about 18" square chunk of real estate! [IMG]

I thought about it on my N scale layout, and am still thinking about it. Real ball parks (not Little League) are big. One would just fit in an N scale turnaround of 18" radius, and I think even then some tracks would have to run "under" the field. I was figuring 320 feet down the lines (2.0 feet in N, 3 feet 8 inches in HO); 400 feet to center; and 60 feet (minimum) from home plate back to the stands. Then you need stands. It's a pretty big endeavor in scale.

A Little League field (180 to the fences all around) might be more feasible.

This one is somewhat compressed even for N scale. HO would be fun if you have the space.

Thanks for the replies, and Thanks Russell for the pic. Looks very neat. I am weighing wheter or not I'll have the room (or want to use the room!) for this. I have the space if I want to. I think I'll pencil out the dimensions on the layout first and see how much it will take up.

Walthers has baseball players in their catalog also I believe I saw a small stadium in it as well. I also like the pic and think something like that in a small town setup would look great.

By the book, the dimensions of a standard field are 350' from home plate to the foul poles, as much as 400' to the center field fence. The backstop is 45' behind the plate. Basepaths are 90' and the mound is 60'6" from the back of the plate.

Little League diamonds are 180' from the plate to the foul poles, approximately the same to center field. Basepaths are 60' and IIRC the mound is 45' away.
