Looks like I may be headed to Waco for a few days. Will probably only have an hour or two free each day so any tips on good spots or what there is to see in Waco would be great. Thanks.

BNSF Fan not really sure of any good spots in Waco, however if you drive another 30-40 miles south to Temple BNSF has a yard there and 1 end can be seen from I35. there is also a fuel rack south of the yard there. Sorry dont know exactly how to get to the fuel rack area.
Also adjacent to the yard there is a museum, which looks out onto the yard area. I'll see if I can find the website for the museum there and post it for everybody interested.

This shows where the railroad tracks are. You can zoom in, scroll around or swithch to satilite photo. Up by Bellmead is probably where the most traffic is. It is really a wye but the map shows it is a sharp corner.:teeth:

    Russel and Tom,
Thanks for the replies. Don't know what kind of free time I will have there. Hopefully, I will be able to get up to Temple one afternoon. Not exactly sure of my trip dates yet but could be as soon as late this week or as late as mid June depending on how some system test go Monday and Tuesday.

Well, just got back from Waco. Ended up with less free time than I thought. Did manage to get down to Temple TX for an hour or so on Thursday. Was really neat. Wish I had been able to stay longer as traffic seemed to be heavy that morning. Here's a shot of one of the yard engines there. Shame it has been tagged but still I thought it was a neat catch.

Will post some more pics later this week. Thanks again for the tips on where to go. :shade:

    Tom,
Would have liked to do that but with the strange schedule, I wasn't sure what free time I would have and a 3 hour drive for the 1 hour I spent in Temple wouldn't have been very fair to you. Maybe on my next trip out that way, I'll have more free time and we can do that.
