Spent the weekend in Verona, KY- the girlfriend's hometown. Grabbed a few pics for the sharing. I did get around to Glencoe, Walton, and Richwood, as well, but I'll post some of those when I get some time.
I like the crossing shot of the FURX best, but they are all good. Notice the kudzu growing up the telephone pole in the last picture. Details, details.
I didn't get up to Eagle cut, but I found where it is. I'm saving that for next time. I head up to the area every- other week or so. Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Oh...one North, one South.
I was in Verona on Sat. around 3 or 4 pm. I just stopped for a bit because the gf and I were headed to do something. She enjoys railfanning, but all the same, I don't push my luck by keeping her there too long! I hit Walton, Williamstown, Dry Ridge, and Glencoe on Sunday morning between the hours of 9 and 1. I will be back in N. Kentucy August 3- 5, if your out, let me know. Railfanning N. Kentucky is really different than here in Louisville. The trains move much faster, and everywhere I go, I feel like I'm trespassing.
Northern KY is pretty cool. They have some good spots like La Grange,Ancorage,Worthsville,Cambellburg. Which its the northern KY but J-Town is pretty cool cause its by Pope lick trestle. There is also a really coolplace on the NS line in Shelbyville where there is a little park and a trestle runs right threw the park. Pretty cool place to get photos!!
I'll post up if I get called for the Short Line this weekend. If you think they move fast there, try the Main Stem from Louisville to Nashville!!! 60 mph track!
Yes the mainline is FAST! I like watching come threw Shepherdsville at full speed. Hopefully ill see you out there this weekend steve. If you see me just gimme a call!
Wow. I need to go railfanning when I am in Bowling Green the next time. If you think the "Main Stem" is fast, try the BNSF Transcon through New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle!!!
