    Hi,
I sent an email on 6/15 requesting an update to the status of my December order. Have not received a reply, which I find strange since Lynn has always been very prompt to any email I have sent.

Hopefully something, email or buildings, will arrive soon, but their health and family have to come first.

I just received my First Left Bank kit today. I placed the order during Nov 08 but it was well worth the wait. The castings come with a minimum of flash so clean up should go quickly. The kit is a corner building with windows and doors on 2 sides only. It comes with separate window castings, a detailed roof and a good set of instructions with good illustrations. Having an Art Deco building for downtown Lukenbach will be a nice change of pace.

Stump Tower, Galt Tower are here...

I received my kits on Wednesday (6/24)... about 9 months after ordering. They look real good. Bob & Lynn used a little different approach to the design of these buildings. They employed a slot & tab method of lining-up the wall sections. The windows and doors are separate casting to allow easier painting if desired. The casting resin used is different from what I've seen in the past, it has a differnt 'feel' to it. Also the resin parts are pre-colored; Stump Tower has medium grey wall sections while the window frames are cast in light blue; Galt Tower has tan walls with golden yellow window frames. I also have 1st Left Bank, but haven't opened it yet.

Instructions look pretty simple and I don't foresee any complexity in the construction of the kits. The kits includes an bottle brush to clean-up flash in the window openings. Also there is clear plastic sheet for window glazing and some printed signs. The kit must be glued together with an ACC glue or 5 minute epoxy because styrene plastic cement won't work.

I'm not sure if I want to keep the same coloring that the kits were cast in. It certainly makes it easier to quickly build the kit as delivered, but, I think some different colors would be nicer. They are "Art Deco" style structures... so... some bright colors on the 'trim' was common... though the walls were usually light colors (white, beige, very light greens - blues - yellows and pink)... I see them here in Miami/Miami Beach all the time.

    Update to my last post

    Hi,

I received an answer to my email and my kits ordered in Dec. are to be shipped in the next couple weeks.

I'm glad to hear that others are receiving their orders and that the reports of the quality of the kits is good.

Ype Lynn informed me that orders placed in March 09 would ship in Beginning of Aug. But thanks for the heads up I knew they would be worth the wait.

I had an email about 2 weeks ago that my buildings were being shipped out too. However I've still not received them yet. I do have a couple of friends that have received theirs though. Still waiting patiently.

Here's another photo of the temporary set up I put on my stove of my older style buildings. You can't see all of them in this ground level shot but I liked the effect.

I can't wait till I can start building my layout...oh yeah and till I get my Lunde Galt Towers too!

I'm so thankful for some of the N scale stuff finally being made in the last couple of years! I mean what took so long hey!

Oh also on Lunde I also finally bought the two older buildings off Ebay.

I bought these buildings from Dan's Train Depot. Thought I've not received these items either yet.

    The Thorndyke Building.

    and the McAdam's building.

both of these are some of the older premade buildings that Lunde use to offer. I looked forever to get these guys. I also bought a few other buildings off Dan too.

Cheers all... Crossing my fingers that maybe this week I'll get my buildings! :D

I finally got these old Lunde buildings today. I posted a bunch of detailed photos of these on my flickr account.

They are currently at the top of the my photo page. I'm going to be doing a lot of upgrades to these buildings in the next few days and will be adding the progress photos as I get work done on them.

    Cheers, Bob

    KITS ARRIVED

    Hi,

I received my kits yesterday (07/20/09). So far I have only opened one, the coloring and quality of the castings is impressive, not sure if I will paint at this time or not. The walls are about 3/16 - 1/4 inch thick at the thickest. Some Flash to remove, I have had other kits that were worse. These kits are going to be enjoyable to assemble and will be many evenings work with my skills. For me it was worth the 7 months wait to get the kits. Now all I have to do is find the recommended "Gel ACC" glue here in the Middle Of Nowhere, KY.

If you have a Wal-Mart near you...look in the house paint section for LOCTITE SUPERGLUE "GEL CONTROL". A blue and gray small bottle on a blister card. Usually near the caulk and other paint stuff. Really good stuff...but my experience has been that once you break the seal it is only good for about 90 days (less in higher humidity conditions).

I've still not got my kits yet, though I've emailed Lynn and asked if I could add two more left bank kits to my order as I've decided I'm going to kitbash these models.

I hope I get them before Sept as I'm moving to Vancouver for four months. YIKES!

Anyways that Gel super glue works really well.

Secretweapon, Thanks for the compliment. I finished aging my older lunde buildings however I've still got to add street level details etc. I'll post them when I get them done.

    Cheers, Bob

    Hi,

I used two bottles of the LOCTITE SUPERGLUE "GEL CONTROL" building the Stump Towers kit. I don't know if I use too much, but they were small bottles. Went back to Wally World to get more and the hook was empty, so I finished up with the regular liquid ACC.

As for the kit the castings needed some cleaning but it went together smoothly. There was very little sanding, filing, etc. needed.

My First Left Bank Kit is nearing completion. It is an easy build with only a few challenges. The entrance insert is 3/16th inch too tall and the roof required a lot of sanding and filing to get it to slide into its slots. For novices like me or someone who has not built a kit or has been away from modeling for a while, it is a good first kit.

With my Stump Towers kit I had the same problem but it was only about 1/8 inch.
