I always though that too.I made several visits to the Iowa Division from Madrid to Perry, and from Madrid to Collins, and the one time I went to Perry, the train I saw and filmed was well over a 100 cars and was moving at a good clip.I think the Milwaukee Road would do well in this 21st century and give others a run for their money.
I watch and film ICE/DME trains almost daily while running my Schwans food route ... sure is a lot of traffic on the line thru Lanark and N. Forreston , IL ... Powder River Basin trains running eastbound behind Milwaukee Rd "Heritage Scheme" ( the old light orange/Light gray scheme ) diesels in 2008 ... Woulda , Coulda , Shoulda !!
My mom and step dad live in Eldridge,Iowa which is 9 miles from Davenport,Iowa and there is a lot of traffic there.A lot of CP Rail power is showing up on a lot of the trains, there use to be a lot of auto rack traffic on the line,I don't know about now, still is a lot of grain traffic.Miss the good old days of the Milwaukee, not only on the Iowa Division but on the Kansas City Division and out west.
