I was thinking that it would be cool to see what others have done on their layouts in the way of creating scenes... i.e car accident on the highway or people swimming in a lake?? Or they could be much crazier than that. Have you made outrageous scenes?? Humorous?? Please post pictures. Also, how did you come up with the idea for the scene?? I guess I am also looking for ideas on my layout as well as seeing what other creative geniuses are out there. Cheers!!
I don't know about genius, but I did these two images along a way to entering a photo contest (monthly on a forum) involving "animals". So, these are whimsical. And another...
Looking good... I like what everyone has done... hmm... *thinking of ways to utilize ideas* lol Cheers
Ok the first seen is my fav. On the layout. It’s a meet between a passenger train and a freight. No. #6 is in the hole with a North bound passenger train and Number 7 is leading a South bound freight. On # 7’s train all we can see is the caboose. The other shots are of a newly finished seen, for Pierson’s woods. Not a lot of trains, but is a special seen all of its own. The last pic show how to use evrey last bit of space, when your modling G scale indoors.
It is about three feet long, and built it from scratch, but when it was finished I realized that I could have just glued two sections of "HotWheels" track side by side for the deck. I used round stock styrene for the legs, and the square plastic tubes that the round stock came in to make the beams and girders. The electronics that drive all the lights on the emergency vehicles are attached to the bottom of the bridge, and the entire unti can be removed for service/ track maint. the the vid resolution is low, and somehow got slowed down, I really need to re-shoot this, this shows the scene in action [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rrh9SXIwmtc"]YouTube - fire trucks[/ame]
That is really interesting. If you dont mind me asking, what materials did you use for the road? styrene sheets? I ask becuase I love the idea of an elevated section of interstate and might do something like that on my layout. Your right though, you could have just used the HotWheels track... but where is the fun in that??:tb-wink::thumbs_up:
the deck is indeed sheet styrene, the joint between sheets is just between the pumper and the ambulance, and the guard rail and center divider was made using right angle stock, attached as an"L" for the guardrail, and an upsidedown "V" for the center divider. here it is in the background
I appreciate the additional info and pics! I have always wanted to do this on my layout. and this has really inspired me to actually do this. only problem is that my layout is on a 4x8 table with a small extension for a yard. so it might be difficult to do, but *hopefully* i can figure something out.
Third Street Industrial District is always a good spot for railroad fans. Roofers. When you have no garden you can use the roof for a break. Children are playing. No time, the letter is important! Wolfgang
There's always a chance to get your family involved. I have a nephew on Martha's Vineyard who always participates in the fishing derbies. So I have a sign on one of the wharfs in my harbors. Last year Adam was second in the striped bass category, and won a fairly big outboard motor, so I thought I memorialize it: Sorry for the rigging across the sign.
