What the?!?!?! The front end is all messed up! I sure hope that this person went a few too many decimal places over, or he's never going to sell it. I think because it is "custom" that makes it "worth more". (Which it doesn't (most of the time that is)). Also if you look in the questions section, someone asked about that price and wondered if the seller was for real. (And I think so....) (I think we need a thread like this for other scales, because I know of some other overpriced items in other gauges)
Thought about offering him $20...he said he'd review all offers. And someone asked if the $46k was a typo, he said no...Must be something good in the water around Ignacio, Colorado.
Have you seen the other garbage he's trying to sell? A UP crane, where the thingy swings around? The boom tender that goes with it, a flat car with a cute little house on it? Wants $100 EACH for them. What's this dude been smoking?? And I thought the cab forward I recently got was ugly. The one he has, needs to be shot and buried for good!! What he wants for his, could probably pay off half of what my folks owe on the house!! And I wonder why I don't buy/sell on eBay any longer? Besides the outta sight fees!
I'll grant that it's fun to poke fun at listings such as that one in this thread, but honestly, is it really necessary to harass/insult the poor guy directly? Does the listing really bother people to the point that they're somehow personally offended by it? Not necessarily saying that anyone here is doing it, just generally wondering why anyone anywhere would bother. -Mark
After reading the Q&A, I realize that this guy is a genius. From the comments, he obviously doesn't expect to get $46K (that's why he has the "Best Offer" link), he gets tons of traffic, and if you sort by highest price first, his is the first listing. Or the guy could just be goofing on people. Either way, no harm - no foul . . . with a bit of light entertainment thrown in. Hmmmm - maybe I should list some of those blue label Kadee/Micro-Trains cars I have for $52K. I'd get traffic AND make the ebay humor thread again. <smile> Oh yeah, Boxcab, I tried the "didn't sell so relist it for $1 more" trick and it worked! I'm one for one and trying it again. <smile> Andy Tetsu Uma
Get a load of this car I found. Not the cheapest addition to your rolling stock fleet. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kadee-Micro...674692?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item51a42ba504
Alittle pricey if you ask me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Cus...288847?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4d078eec0f
Maybe , but its a beautiful piece of work for sure unlike some of the other crap we've seen . I don't think the price is that unrealistic. Be the perfect venue to run a $14,300.00 (plus $6.00 shipping) "custom" Mallet on. Randy
Uh..Did you actually read the description? It's a rr that was built by a studio and delivered, but still in the crates, never been set up.And it's 102'X78'!!!! That's almost as big as my yard!!I think that's cheap for something like that..Probably cost twice that much to build it..
the first listing was 23,400 http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Cus...536484?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4d068f4d24
Looks pretty damned good to me (unlike some of the stuff that gets mocked on here). Definitely expensive, though! -Mark
Looking at the video the layout appears very well made, and it should be, being made by some professionals. Considering todays costs of materials and the things like the lighting and powered switches and other details, plus being portable and with included containment system for a move, and factoring in what one's time is worth, this could be one of the few big ticket deals I've seen in awhile. Wondering if this could be written off taxes as a transportation expense.
From a collector standpoint, it is one of the rarest regular release cars out there and it's priced about 1/3 below the all time high bid (if I recall correctly). For runners, there are other WIF boxcar choices including from MTL itself.
I'd have to agree on this one. Yes it's expensive - it should be. Free shipping as well - and I shudder to think about the cost and headache involved with shipping that.
This may be the most outrageous price for a piece of N scale power Ive ever seen. http://www.ebay.com/itm/custom-buil...565954?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4abf26b942
