Well we made it back home tonight so I will be resizing, uploading, and posting more photos over the next week or so. Our next stop was at Huntington, OR. UP 25196 Ben
An ever famous UP lower quadrant train order signal. Nice to see a complete version saved. Boxcab E50
After the train passed I took a moment and read the Last Spike plaque prior to leaving. A short time later I passed this same train as we were heading west. Ben
All those communications poles... I would not have been able to frame the train as well. I usually catch poles in the way.... Boxcab E50
It was just luck on my side. I usually capture a lot of pole shots. After passing through La Grande, OR I shot this west bound from the driver's seat. UP 25065 In Pendleton, OR The UP Caboose In Arlington, OR Getting New Paint Ben
Next we pulled in to Cascade Locks to check out The Oregon Pony. As you can see it is really hard to photograph due to the enclosure that was built to house it. Ben
Ouch. It's nice they are concerned enough to protect it well. But sometimes I have seen them overdo it to the point where a subject cannot be appropriately appreciated.
It would have been nice to have this unit housed in a little larger structure for photographing purposes. But you are correct in stating that at least they were concerned enough to protect it. Ben
Now for a lttle railfanning around Portland. Here is the MAX that we snagged a picture of near the depot. The depot is getting a new roof this summer. Ben
I saw this building near the depot and assumed that it is an old signal tower. Can anyone confirm this? Some Amtrak shots. Ben
I found a few cars of interest near OMSI. My attempt to shoot a photo through the chain link fence. Ben
This beauty was caught sitting in Brooklyn Yard. An evening view of Brooklyn Yard. The following morning my son and I headed out to catch some more action in Brooklyn Yard. UP 560 switching out the empties. Ben
