Hi Russ - I live on he coast and am "native to the soil." However, won't be going to Easley -to be honest I didn't know that they were having a show there.

There are at least six people from S.C. (or lived here) active on this Trainboard if activity
on the ACL/SAL forum are any indication. I suspect there may be more if our discussion of railroading in the Charleston area is any indicator. One of our laments on that posting was the amount of interesting railroading that had disappeared in the State with no notice or history of same.

If you want please advise us of your interests, etc. as to railroading.

I am attempting to model a short (very short) segment of SAL's "EC" line through the low country. A fictional section where a jointly owned (ACL/SOU) line crosses "EC" 'somewhere between' Charleston and Savannah - this in HO.

I am doing a fictional line from SC to KY the reason for Ky is my brother in law lives at fort Camble and just retired from the millatiry there and we get along great the name will be Halla an Cam RR mainley coal and logging on a 4 x 8 layout its not very big but that is all the room I have.
There is a club in Central that I know of and a friend of mine here in Walhall is in it,I am going to goto a meeting with him and may join the club.
The show in Easly is done by that club and I have a flyer for it they are called Cenrtal Railway Model and Historical Association. I look forward to going to the show and seeing the club.

Once I have finley decided on a layout I will post it.

Sounds like you're going to provide some competition to the Clinchfield RR. But no, if it's the 1860's-70's then I would guess your nearest competition would be the Western & Atlantic.

My first two layouts were built on 4'x8's but then it dawned on me that my real center of interest was about 100 to 200 feet either side of the trackage. This allowed me to use a
16" - 20" hollow core door and all my layouts since then have used these in construction (one N and 2 HO). The current layout uses 24" and 30" hollow cores. Downside was it has a "duck-under" to allow me to build out to a 10' x12' layout, but only 77 s.f. of surface.

A large advantage you have in modelling the earlier days of railroading is that the length of cars and locos was so much shorter allowing for longer trains.

Please inform us of the event at Easley and on the progress of your layout.

Can you give some details as to times and where it will be in Easley? I have not read anything about it, but would be interested in going.
