    WARNING: Not for the humor-impaired

I probably missed these, but next time I'll put on my glasses before reading the posts:

Why does (insert manufacturer's name here) ALWAYS ignore the (insert name of whiner's favorite railroad)?

Why does (insert name of manufacturer) keep getting the COLOR wrong on their diesels?!?!?

I'm an expert on (insert railrad name), and I can tell you without a doubt that (insert railroad name again) NEVER/ALWAYS (insert whatever it is you said to tick off the thin-skinned expert) (Don't forget exclamation points and capital letters for effect).

Amazing the things people get worked up over in this world, innit? :tb-wink:

Just so anybody gets the idea I'm picking on them, I've been more than a little guilty of the first two in my last post- I model the Frisco, and until recently it's been difficult to get decent models from the manufactureres for that road, and in the proper shade of Mandarin orange (one manufacturer comes to mind). So I'm picking on myself more than anything else. :tb-biggrin:

Go ahead and pick on yourself, it leaves more time for the rest of use to pick on ourselves.:tb-biggrin:
Model railroading is to be FUN.

Then there is the all time classic:

"But, honey, the <insert item name> only costs $<amount>, and I really need it right now. I've only spent $<higher amount> this month. Think about how much I would have spent if I had ordered <insert wishlist>"

I was looking at a very nicely-detailed brass diesel locomotive, and mentioined to the missus I'd like to have a couple of them. When she asked me how much, I sighed and said "About the same as a decent divorce lawyer."

I'm nothing if not honest.................I stay out of the doghouse that way.:tb-biggrin::tb-biggrin:

If my wife knew how much I have spent I would need a divorce lawyer, decent or not. She has some idea, but really does not care. With the trains she knows that I'm at home and not out getting in trouble. Anyways I'm already paying for a decent divorce lawyer, our oldest daughter's husband (Butt Head) walked out on her and their 2 boys after he ran up over 100,000 on credit cards because he wanted his own business.

BTW The business failed and he left all the bills.

I have been burnt over the years by the perception of value of collectability. Even some of the most fleeting MT cars have fluctuated in value. Because I have a mile form of accumulation disorder, I have saved, boxed and preserved my son and daughter 's Beanie Babies, Barbie Dolls, Hot Wheels, MacDonald and Burger King value meal toys, sports cards, model car kits and yes I have some boxed and sealed MT cars, which I bought original and keep just for memories and not for resale.
Thank God for a large spare bedroom and closet and time to carefully put everything in plastic bags and boxes.
I consider myself a runner and user of 99% of my stuff and have a fun time re-connecting with my youth.

Hey, Ken, I can make you a GREAT deal on two big boxes of Mickey D (and others) toys! They've been accumulating, er, I mean, APPRECIATING in value for years. I'd sure like them to go to a good home.........

    PM me if interested! LOL

    Darrell, quiet...for now

    Spelling / Grammar

Remember the early days / decade of the web when it was common to see the spelling and grammar of a poster attacked? Well, at least thos deys apear tu b gon.

Then there are the threads we never see:
< insert the pet peeve >
not posted by folks every day because they know it has been over posted already and will never make a difference.
I can think of several I never post because I don't see the point.

Thanks for the thread. I nearly found myself taking exception to a couple of the OPs comments. < plant tomge firmly in cheak > Ooops, well, they were probably typos or just ignorance.

This thread has some great comedic and/or satirical potential. Unfortunately my silly hat is lost tonight due to simple fatigue.

The Code Wars come to mind: C55 vs C80. I think we went around on that about 1000 times, or until we wore the C80 track down to C55, and the C55 down to C40. Or the War between Frogs and Wheel Gauges on __________ switches and ____________ engines.

The DCC vs DC War was probably our true 100-year war because it had so many combatants in so many theaters: who had the best command station? Who had the best decoders? Who had Back EMF and what was that anyway? Is Hexadecimal programming easier than plain language, interactive programming? Well, OK, isn't Hexadecimal more precise programming? Well, OK, for a geek Hexadecimal programming at least reminds me of the 1980s! Well, OK, the late 1970s, then.

    Oh, look, my silly hat!
What do you think of that!
