Well, not really, but it's been a really loooong time since I last built a structure of any type. This kit was sitting in one of my parts bins and I finally pulled it out over the holiday break and set to work. The final result is shown, but I still would like to detail the interior and add lights at some point. Anyone have measurements for the chairs and tables at a Taco Bell??? Please feel free to critique, as I am new to the structure/scenery game. Maybe some more weathering on the roof and some vents possibly. Need to research some more photos. The kit is made by Summit Customcuts. Thanks, Brian
Really nice Brian. Is is a Summit Kit? Yes add some vents, piping and some kind of machinery to keep the freezer cold. Also maybe do add some styrene to fill in the gaps in the back of roof corners. Overall, very nice. I want one.
Thanks guys! Greg, you read my mind. I used to have a ton of California Freight a/c units, roof vents, etc for buildings, but I can't find that stuff for the life of me. I also need some arrows for the driveway and a handicap parking spot next to the door. Does anyone make freezer units? The gap in the back will drive me nuts and will get fixed at some point. I need to resupply my styrene stock. I need a large trash bin in back too, just not the smell! It is a summit kit. I have the Domino's on order and will pick up the hotel and gas station in the future. Gotta keep the guys willing to do modern buildings happy. Brian
Brian, Looks very prototype. If I wasn't watching bowl games I'd drive over for a quick treat. Great job, Charlie
Thanks Charlie. Hope you weren't watching that debacle against Florida. Brian Life long Buckeye fan from Columbia Station, OH
That looks really nice contruction with very nice paint job. A good resource for roof details is google or bing aerial views. Just search up your local taco hell and you will get ideas for roof vents and fans. Although to be truly realistic you need a bunch of miniature figures running toward the nearest bathroom...
Looks great! Good to see they are just as good-looking built as they are on the website... I want a gas station now!
Looks great! First time I have seen one of these assembled. No kidding- was at one for lunch yesterday and there was a semi blocking the exit. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw these pictures. Jamie
The furniture in Taco Bells and their floor layouts seem to be kind of random in my experience (N. Calif.). They go from wooden chairs to plastic swivel ones integrated into the tables. Decor can be wallpaper to tile. Maybe the mfgr. can point you to their/a source of interior shots for the prototype.
in a previous life i drove for that company depicted on your semi i can tell you from experience that mini cooper will take a pounding if that semi tries to use the drive thru! anyway great job now that winter has set in will turn my attention from the yard to the layout and dust off some on hold projects thanks for the inspiration.
Mini Cooper = speed bump... hmmm, might be a good scene to depict, complete with arguement in the parking lot...lol! Thanks again for all of the comments. I still see lots of work to make things better (i.e. paint the front doors black). Brian
Looks really good. I built one a few years ago, and I made some of the rooftop details from leftover styrene pieces (HVAC units and vents) - other than the cyclone fans & vents, most of the parts in the Walthers rooftop detail set are too big for a fast food restaurant.
Yep, a North American icon, that building is...... fantastic build pics! Looks like a Google Maps satellite shot
