    Hi all -

I hope someone can help here - I have 2 of these, I think Hobbytown, and I'm not familiar with them.
Both are wired the same - 1 wire to the frame, other to the geartower; both have added diodes, I assume for directional lighting (bulb missing on this one).
Power directly to the wheels doesn't do anything, power to the frame and truckframe - motor runs fine.

    Help, please?

    Thanks.

    regards,

Need some more info - was it working OK before? Have you done any work on the unit?

I got 'em used, as-is, from an estate.
Just now trying to see if they're good, but wiring may be wrong - I have no experience with Hobbytown.

The Hobbytown units that I use are from the 1980's and were not equipped to operate lights. On these units there is only a single wire which runs from the motor to the front truck as shown in your photo. Attached is an assembly schematic.

I'm sure mine are the same design, and the light circuits were added by the original builder.
Other than the lights, do yours have the same motor wiring - frame & geartower?
If so, I can't figure the circuit path. :dazed:

    Nevermind! :)

Shoulda dunnit first, but took my VOM and figured it out - wiring is correct.
Don't have track set up, so I was applying power directly from the controller wires, and electrical pick up is one side front truck wheels, other side rear truck wheels, not opposite wheels each truck, so I'm good to go.

    Thanks anyhoo guys!
