I am looking to purchase a switch engine, possibly an MP15DC that has DCC in it, and have it custom painted and decaled for Indiana Harbor Belt. I have a SW9/1200 already in IHB livery but the practicality of attempting to fit it with a decoder is beyond my abilities. I am exploring the option of having someone fit the decoder in it. I am just curious, do any of our advertising partners provide a reasonable custom painting service, or if someone knows of another reputible option (spelled good references) an could PM me with the information I would be much obliged.
It is quite simple to fit a TCS Z2 decoder into the SW9, using the original lightboard to suppley the power (with the light and diode removed). I have done this on a couple of mine with no problem, but haven't bothered to add lighting as they just do yard work. I seem to remember posting a picture in a thread a while back.

Why not try and get someone to put a decoder into your existing loco. Just another option to think about. Trevor D.
Frank, Just as a possibility, if you have a local hobby shop maybe ask the owner. One that I've dealt with in Colorado Springs did a lot of maintenance work for people and knew many folks who did/do good painting.
