I just got these. Three Arnold steam switchers. Not sure how old but they all run. Does anybody know anything about these? Also, has anyone converted that goofy hook couper to a MT coupler?

They are all german prototypes, beyond that, no clue. Look like a good starting point for a small Porter or other tiny switcher.

I've actually been looking for one of these -- specifically the 0-6-0 that i might run as an 'excursion' line of some form with 2-3 coaches. Let me know if you manage to convert it to DCC or would care to part with it ;)

The conversion is probably going to be the MT 1128 or similar depending on shank length needed. I don't know if the original pilot conversions for the 0-6-0 will work on these or even if they are still available that were put out by MT. They converted a 0-6-0 to a 2-6-0. Not sure but also think these came out in the early 70s, and the flanges will probably not be compatible with code 55.

The 0-6-0 was very popular amongst OO9/HOe modellers to fit under PECO white metal bodies for Narrow Gauge in the late 60's/ early 70's - but the price kept gpoing up and took them out of reach of a lot of modellers - which started the interest in the Ibertren "Cuckoo" chassis to go under the kits. I think Arnold carried on producing the model until they went out of business, and were taken over some while back

That 0-6-0 looks like it has the same mech as the one in Arnold's 2-6-0 (just without the pilot) -

The 0-4-0 labeled "LOK 7" is a Fleischmann T2, product number 7000. See them on thebay, sometimes at good prices. Heavy and good runners for their size. (Saw pictures on one of the European forums of DCC installed in one.) I could not find the prototype; maybe the Fleischmann Guys here can provide more info.

As for couplers I replaced the Rapidos with Unimates. The little cover snaps off and on.

I got the magnifier out and sure enough you are correct! I had to tinker withe contacts on the wheels a bit but I now have it running pretty good.
