I will be custom painting a Texmex locomotive I think they had GP9 I maybe wrong. Has anyone done and Texmex in HO?
Diesel Shop and Kalmbach's American Shortline Railway Guide list TM as having one GP9, #853, built in October of 1958.
The photo I posted of the bicentennial unit wqas in a ad which did not have any information about the locomotive or the paint job, only general promotion of the railroad. I checked my Journal of Texas Shortline Railroads and Transportation, Nov.Dec. 1997, Jan 1998 Volume 2 Number 3, almost completely devoted to the Texas Mexican. I could find no mention nof the bicentennial paint job. However it has spotting characteristics similar to GP7 #850, shown on p.52- notably the louvers under the cab. A diesel roster on p.56 does not show the #850 at all, but lists #851 as a GP-7 gone by 1997 and #852 as a GP-7 still on nthe roster. That same roster shows GP-9 #853 still around in 1997. p.53 has a 1958 photo of #853, without the louvers under the cab, and tiger stripes on the nose (in b&w but probably orange and green). Now that I know the numbers, I'll have to look through my photos...
