Hello again. It's been well over a year since I've posted here... First year at the university has limited my free time to Dobro sliding and occasional doodling, but this quarter will be out by mid-June, and I hope to get my hands on some styrene and scale lumber again. I also changed my username; over the last three years, I've mellowed, humbled, and matured from my once-spastic, shamelessly-spamming self, and I don't necessarily model the SD&AE anymore, so "a proud SD&AE modeler" doesn't really seem fitting. To keep things consistent with my accounts elsewhere, I went with my default username, "Wings & Strings." So here's a bit of catch-up: There's the strings, and the wings, so that's the back story there. Also, I've started making animated GIF images using footage of various locomotives, since I've noticed a severe lack of quality rail GIFs (and I always cite the original video both for filming credit and for viewing purposes.) This one, made from one of SkipW's videos, demonstrates a nifty looping sequence for an infinite pacing shot with minimal "jump." [Source] Fantastic footage by the way, Skip :] Beyond that, how have you all been? Did I miss anything notable?
Welcome back Tom! I assume you play those instruments? Is that a Mandolin I see? Do you have any clips you care to share? I really liked the train vid. Thanks for posting the link. What an awesome machine. Was the picture you included supposed to be animated? I'm not seeing any looping. Thanks, Michael
Good to see you here again. Hope you also have a little time, now and then, for some modeling projects.
A mandolin, indeed! I don't really have any decent recordings uploaded, but maybe this weekend I'll post some audio links. As for the image of 4449, yeah, it should be moving... It's working on my screen, but I think the file size might be too large for trainboard to work properly for others. I keep forgetting that there's a smaller size limit here, so here's a link to my custom GIF page for all of them.
Dude, anyone who can make a dobro sing and make train gifs is sorrily missed in my book. I look forward to seeing any self produced videos of your trains or original model creations along with bluegrass riffs in the background!! pick (or slide) on, Brian
