I may try for a two day next year. Couldn't make it this year due to the tranny breaking on my van.

Amherst is the Big Kahuna of train shows. It dwarfs the NMRA show.

So, most of the other train shows are smaller? I'm luckier than I knew. ☻ It took from 9AM to about 4PM to see all of it but we were mostly just 'observing '. Occasionally I would listen in on conversations at places like Kato, FVM and such but nothing stood out.
Attendance seemed to be 'off'. I remember it feeling much more crowded in the past.
Anyone interested in pics of 'N-Trak' modules? I have lots of those as that was my main interest.

Steve, your impression may be due to the show now occupying four buildings. When I was there in 2004 it occupied only two buildings (IIRC) and it seemed a little crowded, but it was not overwhelming.

A Double Sided N Scale Layout. Laura really liked the concept:

In the early 80's, when the show occupied only the small New England Center building (not one of the four presently used), the crowds were literally shoulder-to-shoulder, all you could do was shuffle your way from table to table and the line to get in wrapped around the parking area because the fire marshal had to limit how many people could enter.

    Please.

Double sided- Interesting what can be done in a small space, using a scenic divider.

Well; that was a lot of fun.... but they sure do have hard concrete on them there floors... my knees may never recover !
The announced attenance was 21,000 and change; a couple hundred more than last year. It was steady on Saturday and sporatic on Sunday for us at the Rapido booth. We really had fun meeting so many old and new friends !

We did make the N scale Osgood Bradley cars an offical announcement - Here's a link to the specific cars avaibale.... It was easy to pick out the N scale NH,B&M,BAR and LIRR modeller when they came over - they were the ones doing that little "happy dance".....

    http://rapidotrains.com/ob_n.html

The GMD-1 was well received and I heard a number of people who have no reason to run a CN unit planning to custom paint an undecorated into their own scheme or a shortline/grain hauler.. (I'm going to paint a pair for my Domtar paper mill)

There were some really great new products announced; ESM's new boxcars and well cars wil be great as will some of the new products from Bob at Traincat and Prairie Shadows second run of gondolas in some awesome US road schemes....

A great, if not exhausting time had by many !

In late January, interest in the hobby is at its highest and the show's location is within a day's drive of a HUGE chunk of population of the eastern US and Canada.

Yes, the NMRA's show is smaller and there are many others that are MUCH smaller.

Ok, I agree. Yes, one must accept the 'medium' with its restrictions but, well, ok, I'll leave that unsaid. ☻
Her 4yo Grandson thought it was great! - Something about "the cars are gonna crash!"

    Another well done bridge:
