Well I finally came out of the stone age of DCC . I've been running the old MRC Command 2000 on my layout for the last 4 or 5 years , and have finally decided I've outgrown it. :eek:hboy: A couple days ago I ordered and received an NCE Power Cab . Its hard to believe how much better the control is with the Power Cab. After finally being able to change CV 5 & 6 in a couple different locomotives (Kato Mike , MP Pacific) They now start and run soooo smooth !:) It's amazing how easy this system is to use and program . I would definitely recommend this system to anyone that is thinking about starting in DCC.

Now on a different note....I have a used MRC Command 2000 that I would give away to anyone that could use it. :uhoh: Just pay for shipping.........Mike

Welcome 2 NCE. Lol. I've had mine for a few months. I don't know if you have sound locos but with the power cab you can access all 28 sounds. I think it's 28. A few of them are actually just individual volume controls for engine roar, bell, brake squeal, and home. I really like the short circuit protection. Switch tracks are messed up. Enjoy my friend!!!!

I remember five years ago when I ran my first DCC switcher in my previously DC wired Echo Yard. In DC, just to get from one mainline to another I had to have two throttles, a center siding where I could switch from red to yellow throttle...and in DCC all I had to do was throw turnouts and go to whatever track I wanted. I specifically remember the rush of good feelings when I saw engines parked on sidings with their lights on and engines idling, while other engines (with sound) went about their business on the same track or on neighboring tracks. It's now the "norm", but DCC really really made a huge difference in the prototypical feel of running engines rather than figuring out how to get them to one place or another on the layout.

I went with Digitrax after reading about, and running two other DCC systems (Lenz and NCE), but you really can't go wrong with any of the "Big Three" in N-scale. Several of my friends also went with Digitrax after going through the same thing, choosing the Zephyr instead to run their small layouts. One other has chosen Lenz and another has chosen NCE and yet another two have chosen Rail Lynx, and it is not a point of conflict between us.

    Welcome to DCC!!

    Cheerio!

If you need more current, get the Tam Valley booster for about $45.00 the last I heard. Bare bones booster.
About $55.00 with a power supply.
    Google tam valley booster

If so, how many amps does it put out? And if it is and is a decent amount then I would get ripped off by buying the smart booster at$200.00 I'm gonna look it to this.

I googled it. 5 amps is good price is great Here's the real question the makes me walk or walk out with it. Is it compatible with nce and can I use more than on the same layout with or without districts if you will

Yes it is compatible. Read up on the specs. The NMRA established a lot of standards many years ago.
Go to the MRH website and join the forums. The discussion is there with a rep from the Tam Valley company I believe.
One of the links from Google will show the MRH website.
Sometimes you have to branch out in different forums rather than be trapped in only one forum.
The Internet has allowed a huge model railroad community.

A big difference with the Smart Booster is it is also a command station, which allows you to unplug the Power Cab and move to another location while trains are running. Since the Power Cab is both the command station and throttle, it normally has to stay plugged in while you are running trains. This continues to be the case if you get a booster other than the Smart Booster; although, additional cabs can be unplugged and moved while trains are running with either booster.

Yeah just remembered, it is more for DCC accessories or booster districts. It could be useful if your Power Cab has a longer cord and don't mind operating like that. Just another possible option.
There are all kinds of possibilities with DCC and the DCC hobby is evolving quite rapidly if you keep up with the different forums, especially the MRH forums.
