Another week is almost done. Have you started your model railroad list yet? A little bit quieter weekend than last as I get a few projects done in the shop. I'm about 75% of the way sanding off the cast on details and ready to add BLMA detail parts to a customers GP30 in N scale. I was able to find a few GP30 36" BLMA fan kits as well as some other details I have needed for a few future BNSF projects and as luck would have it, they all arrived yesterday. Thanks Mike! so detail time in the shop is what I planned today. This locomotive is for a customer in California and will be painted as D&RGW #3017. That scheme will look sharp on this GP30, but then again, I'm a bit biased as the GP30 is one of my favorite EMD models. I also received word from my co-modeler of the City Job, that we have been invited to Trainfest in Milwaukee. For me and I'm sure him as well, this is a huge honor and I'm excited to be a part of the show. With that news comes the realization of getting busy on the layout. Fortunately, some items came in yesterday to help me get some things done on the layout. Thanks again Mike! Last but not least, my Mid State Prototype group and I are planning on building Ingelnook's this fall and winter. This is mainly a teaching tool or bite size modeling with code 55 track, laser cut buildings, DCC and of course, operations. I'll be spending some time working on this with the group as well so that should keep me out of trouble. Other than giving Jess a well deserved wash, wax, vacuum and detail, a pretty train filled weekend. So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Let us know and post a "before" pic or two so you can post an "after" pic on Monday the 26th. Until then, work safe, have fun and... High Greens!
I'm going to install the backdrop on my switching layout, and then while that's setting up I'll move downstairs to my roundy-round and work there a bit. I need to clean track, run some trains, and decide whether I want to keep working on it or leave it as is until I can start a new HCD version.
Goal this weekend is to extend the width of the Albemarle City portion of the benchwork by 4". Put down plywood sufficient to start installing the homasote road bed along the city portion of the layout. Time permitting, other "stuff" on the workbench.
I hear you on that. I have to order styrene around here, and found myself looking over the "for sale" sign displays this morning, looking for alternatives.
I'm going to a concert in San Francisco Saturday night. I haven't seen my favorite band live in maybe fifteen years. The first time, they played with two other bands in an arena, and we were waaaaay up at the top. Tonight, they'll be in a 3000 capacity theater. Good times. Sunday, it supposed to be 97 here. Don't know if I'll get anything done!
