We had a bit of snow yesterday!! Finally got to catch a train, an empty awaiting a call on the west end of 3 track.

And another big power set on a mixed freight. A fun one with a faded 'bonnet on it! And lots of different cars. Seems to be a lot of construction material heading east finally, too.

Wow. That was quite the manifest! Hopefully it contained some stuff to ease the Holiday shortages and empty shelves in some stores!

Nice video, thanks. I wonder if any were DIT. I couldn't tell by the sound, but it didn't seem loud enough for all six engines to be pulling.

Pretty cool, those rails were singing with all that power pulling!

BNSF rules allow a maximum number of axles working on the head end. Last I knew it was 3 engines of 6 axles maximum. It was what I heard pulling also. There are probably some extenuating circumstance rules and exceptions, but I don't know them that well.

PS - there were three 3 bottom hoppers of old ties in the train also! Among many other neat cars.

Sometimes the axles of power is based on the service design, and you can/will get clear instructions on which locos to have online where.
Based on the heat signatures out the stacks, it appears the 3 lead units are on line. The singing you hear is that miserable C-4 in the lead, wheels slipping. Those things are not impressive in a slow hard pull. I'm surprised there was no DP.

Yes, those c-4's do make the rails sing with their 'controlled slippage.' I have noticed that, and heard it from a couple of my engineer's I get to visit very rarely.

Got a quick shot of this un-vandalized TBOX,

Had fun walking around this set of power on Christmas day. High idle always sounds good when it is Below zero!

Caught this empty coal train tonight. Saw the power getting onto the train, so hightailed to this location to carch it leaving town. Has a few flat wheels and / or spalled ones in the set. Some nice slack action as the DPU started pushing and radio chatter of a crew working another empty in the yard.

It is interesting the amount of CP equipment showing up in the past few months. Much more than usual, or so it seems.

That paint on 9687 is looking a bit tired. Catch anything you can of KCS, while you still can....

If I have to choose a diesel paint job to call favorite, it comes down to either the BN Exec or CSX 'hockey stick.' I do believe that the N sca;e NPBH may end up with a varnish scheme similar to the executive scheme.........

I try to get any outdated or failed paint on camera, they are only temporary.
