I've purchased two of the new Broadway limited y6b. Amazing in everyway. No derailment issues , Great sound, strong pulling power . Was about to pull 115 cars with plenty left for more. But the decoder is becoming a real weak point for this engine. I've had one of my y6b decoder repair once and the problem came back. Brought another y6b and today that one shorted out. Has anyone else had this issue ?Does anyone have a permanent solution?
In My opinion the decoder is the week part in every BLI Loco . At least in N scale . My best advice is to remove the stock decoder and replace it with a Tsunami 2 Steam 2 decoder . Mike
I have other Broadway limited engines. Paragon 2 ,3 and 4 none of them have decoder issues like the y6b. They have issues yes, but they still work. Well anyway I might have to change to a different decoder. Any videos or step by step instructions on changing Broadway limited decoders to Tsunami or ESU?
They usually use black wire for everything , real helpful . But I do think the boards are marked as to where the wires go . You'll probably want a voltmeter though .
I replaced the p3 decoder in my PRR T1 with a LOk 5. Very very happy with the change! And reliability.
