This is a decoder for an Atlas legency type locomotive.
    My unit is an SD35.
I am a bit concerned about the components that are on the decoder touching the frame 1/2’s where it is very narrow.
Looks like the components might be touching the frame halves.
Any one done an install into an Atlas using the 58551?

I started but that board does not fit tight in that frame and I hate the Atlas motor tab arrangement that makes contact with the bottom of the decoder board. I too am waiting to see if anybody else has installed these and what they have done to remedy some of the issues.

Opps looks like my fat finger put in the wrong part number in my post should be a 58751.
When the boards contact tabs do not fit tight into the slots of the frame I put a touch of solder on the tabs to make them thicker. Some Atlas units used a small clip that fits on the board to make it thicker therfore fitting the frames much tighter.
I have some spare clips if you want them.

Opps- forgot to tell about the motor leads— I solder a short jumper wire from the motor and solder it to the board on the top side.

Thanks for the info. I will have to try that.

The solder bump suggestion from Woodone works well. I have had to do this to many Atlas diesels as the variations in PCB thickness is enough to mess up the contacts. I have used the Atlas clips as well. I have hardwired some engines also. I suggest that you insulate the tops of the frames with Kapton tape (you can get a roll of this on the internet for a few bucks.) Just wrap one or two turns around the metal on each side of the frame to keep the decoder or wires from touching the frame.
