The reason it is "busy" is that when the shop forces re-lettered it they did a throwback to the earlier paint. That will be seen on the 4-4-0's and older 2-8-0's when I get them out....
Was playing trains early yesterday morning, and discovered an issue or two, Then spent some time troubleshooting the issue, now to fix it,
And this morning is just for fun, again! The 'shop hammer' will be out soon for this loco. Needs a good clean n lube, re-lettered and misc other stuff.
Did some maintenance and upgrade work to the layout infrastructure today... Firstly, I finally put this old blueprint drawer where it goes. I have some legs to relocate so that it fit, and will now act as a car and jewel case storage cabinet. No idea where it originally came from, but in my imaginings, it was a RR item..... The SB5 has just been hanging out on the layout, behind that caboose, since I put it in. Finally I took the time to properly mount it and the overload protection lamps. It looks so much better. And the Wife helped me to relocate the GN passenger coach bench to a useful location.
Did do some hours of fun in the Trainshed yesterday. Hung the Teller drawer up, and re-discovered why I have it, as can be seen in the photos. An authentic NP item! It has these small pans in there for some reason, and the 'lock' mechanism is at the back. This pan is obviously the 'dinger.' I did have to do a small repair at the corner, a little glue and small screws fixed it up. And I didn't take any pictures of where it is hanging! Well that will have to change... One thing leads to another, and so I decided to work on a simple task, filling the scenery gap back here, the rock is a weight to hold the glue in place. Which means I have to actually figure out these machines and get them installed for the switches on both ends of staging. And yes, the butte is removeable, just for "Murphy's sake."
Let me know if you ever find any train orders! I have many already, but there are some gaps to fill in my NP, GN, MILW.....
Yup. I do have a few other original NP things. Pics later... Did do some thing on the layout, placed these spur switches, After pliobonding the ties to the rails,
Got all the track in place, Received some more wheels from Fifer, Then, after a major track cleaning session last night, and some wheel cleaning of locomotives, ran a few trains. Haven't had time to run any since last weekend, so the track collected some dust with the higher winds and t-storms we've been having.
Spent some time yesterday morning, before traipsing off to Medora to enjoy the Musical, and found my workbench! The Yellowstone ids front and center, now I found my tiny hard wire to build cooling pipes with. Cleared a space for the rack of brass and aluminum shapes I picked up on clearance years ago, And the Mandan area conductors ticket dispenser front and center, with an overview of the work area, A slightly depressing project find. I logged when I started this thing! It is due a new tender with a full wheel pickup frame, and better Pb wipers on the loco, And a few other started locos...
