The title of my layout has changed (old was lines west) but the idea is still the same. I also created a new thread because the other was so long. A new project, thus a new thread. Anyhow, a little update on the construction of the Columbia River Bridge at Beverly! At the moment, I have set up a tabletop and some foam for the west end of the bridge. I am measuring and scaling right now. What you see before you is a 6-foot long tabletop. At the end of the tabletop is the beginning of the middle sand bar/island (eastward) in the Columbia River; this isn't even the middle point of the bridge. This is definitely going to be a big project!!! Don't worry about the tall tower lying in there. I will be cut down to the correct size soon. Greg

In N scale, 160 feet is equal to 1 foot in reality. So 3000 N scale feet divided by 160 feet equals 18.75 feet in reality. I hope I did that right. If I'm worng here in my math someone let me know. I just woke up and probably shouldn't be trying to figure this out quite yet. When I took a ruff estimate before I got this far in building it, I was thinking it would be around 15 to 16 feet long, as I am shorting each truss just a little bit. For example, every truss will have the correct number of diagonal beams but the will be just a little closer together. It is just enough to allow this thing to fit correctly in my storage area but still give off the right impression. I think that unless someone takes out an n scale ruler, it will look like it is to perfect scale. That is how remote of a difference the shorting will make. By the way, I just picked up a set of 6 deluxe inn. milw woodchip cars and was wondering if any of you know who makes loads for these things?

Thanks Ken! I picked up the 6 pack. did not know the single had a different rd number. I will have to keep an eye out for it. On the east end there will be just a little bit of land, probably just before the first switch in Beverly yard.

Worked a little more on the bridge. I now have a total of two finished trusses. These things take a long time to build when you’re doing it from scratch... Anyhow this a quick mock-up pic with some background colors. Nothing fancy but it got rid of the messy background that was actually shown. Bridge piers will come when all the trusses are finished.
When your module is finished, will we be viewing it primarily from the south side? :thumbs_up: Boxcab E50
Right now I am still debating it. I have background photos of whichever direction I choose to view it from. My layout diagram currently shows it will be viewed from the south or looking towards the dam and vantage. the picture I just posted would have been taken from the northside as Beverly-Jct. is going to be to the right of the photo.

Thank you for all the encouragement guys. I guess you all deserve a treat for treating me so well. Hahaha! He is a little sneak peek of what I'm also currently building. It is the Boylston Depot. A rather rare and unseen depot due to is desolate location, should make modeling it rather unique. Boylston is located at the summit of the Boylston Mountains (which is kind of a small section of the Saddle Mountains) next to the west portal of the Johnson Creek Tunnel (#45) (AKA Boylston Tunnel). This would put it east of the Renslow Trestle. I will be working on both the Columbia River Bridge and Boylston, trading off and on. Still lots to do. There's no stopping me now!!!
